That is actually pretty classy. They didn't have to issue an apology. Fair play to them |

Completely disagree. Dykes return of 7 goals was diabolical. He didn't have many shots because he always hides from the ball. He runs around and huffs and puffs but he is never in a useful position, never cutting to the front post, never making a darting run to the penalty spot, never turning up at the back post just when he is needed. He is always hanging back, just outside the box hoping that nobody notices. Chair, on the other hand, always take the initiative, always take leadership, and that is why he has so many shots. Its fair to say we could probably do with a better return on all those shots but you can't fault the commitment or leadership that Chair shows. Also, lets not forget that Dykes is a striker and Chair is an attacking midfielder -- Dykes job is to score goals pure and simple, whereas Chair's job is to create goals either by scoring or setting them up. And, for that matter, one reason that we don't throw enough shots into the box, is that the outside men have learnt that nobody will be there to get on the end of the crosses, because Dykes will be hiding when the ball comes in [Post edited 13 May 0:42]

Chair isn't moving on. Who would spend decent money on a player that has a conviction hanging over his head? He is also more limited than we adoring fans like to admit. He always cuts back to that sweet right foot, which makes him predictable, and so, in spite of his buckets of talent, he only really shines when teams underestimate him. Also, to be honest, Willock isn't going to be picked up on some big money transfer either. I hate to say that, as on his day Willock is such a joy. But he just hasn't been good enough. For us as fans who watch every game, we see the good that Willock brings to the table and overlook the rest. But if you are an outsider, all you see are hours and hours of tape of Willock doing absolutely nothing. Nobody is going to be putting down real money for a player who only puts in effort for 15 minutes a game [Post edited 13 May 0:36]

| Forum Thread | What would you consider success to be this off-season? at 00:13 13 May 2024
For me it is very simple; strikers If we sign two strikers, proper strikers who can hit the ball on target and score goals, and offload Dykes, that will be a very successful off-season. I realize there are other gaps that will need to be filled and other business that will need to get done, but it is strikers that is holding us back. Midfield is already stocked. We have too many 'good enough' midfielders; Chair, Willock, Fields, Andersen, Colback, Dixon-Bonner, are all good and I'm probably forgetting a couple. Smyth and Larkeshe provide speed on the outside. Defense has been solid. Cook, Clarke-Salter, Dunne, Paal, Fox, Cannon. It isn't perfect, but if it was perfect but we are QPR, so .... As for strikers, they have all been a huge disappointment. If I could I would ditch Dykes and Frey, try and further develop Armstrong (he needs to get his head up and let the game slow down for him) and bring in at least two real strikers. Are their different opinions, or is that so obvious, that it is already the consensus? |
| Forum Reply | We Just Dont Get Enough From Our Strikers at 00:00 13 May 2024
Smyth is a winger. He does great on the wing. He doesn't have much of a shot on him but he is fast, persistent and be disruptive and can put a cross in. That's his job and he does it as well as anyone in the squad. He isn't paid to be a finisher, which is good coz he aint much cop in that respect. But he is good at his main job, being a winger. We need to get a couple of proper strikers in who can take advantage of his strengths. |

So, I see we have better form over the last 6 games than Leeds or Coventry and all 6 teams below us. That doesn't mean anything on the day, but it cant be a bad thing, I guess |
| Forum Reply | We are not safe!!! at 22:58 21 Apr 2024
To be fair, nobody has been saying we are safe. Everyone has been saying we are virtually safe. And that appears to be the case. We just need one of the following four teams to get the same or less points than us in the last two games: Blackburn, Plymouth, Sheff Wednes, or Birmingham. Not all four of them, just any one of them. Statistically, that seems like a good bet, but nobody can be too complacent yet, its true |

Good interview, but at the end of the day 5 goals in a season is pathetic, especially when he is often the only pure striker on the field, in front of 3-4 playmakers. Ultimately, strikers are paid to score goals. |
