OT- Barcelona visit
at 12:36 14 May 2024

Here is my list of good coffee, small restaurants and wine bars when I was last there (2022 I think)

https://maps.app.goo.gl/gpzbEoWnNKtiyxpR8

Things to do, depends on your interests but walking round Montjuic and Parc Guell are pretty cool, Picasso museum is pretty good as is just wandering the Gothic Quarter drinking vermut.

Bar Marsella is quite funny - 18th century absinthe bar, though I did once end up in the gutter outside, as is the 90's themed Bar Manchester.

But mostly, watch your stuff. Pickpocketing is out of control

Players we should have got rid - way before we did

Will never forget how far my jaw dropped when Barton's name was cheered on the first day of the season in the team read out. A fan base bereft of self esteem at that point

I'm usually of the crew who'd be saying it's not FIFA and you can't just flog players without a buyer - BUT - Dykes will come up in a lot of analytics that his Scotland numbers are way better than ours and there's a the chance a manager will say "I can change him"

So i was proper rattled by his death. Adored the records he helped make, and was looking forward to seeing Shellac for the 14th time at Primavera next month. Posted a RIP post on insta

Sadly, after posting that I discovered both an article he wrote in the 80s saying he looked at and enjoyed child pornography (I won't link the piece here, but it is properly beyond the pale), and his long friendship with Peter Sotos and a life long affection I've had for him died in about 10 minutes. No music justifies some of the stuff he was adjacent to, or claimed to have participated in

I think it will depend on what we can bring in - you touched on it in your reports and previews, but he's incredibly practical. I think our approach will reflect what we're able to assemble through algoball

I also think that's why Hodge didn't get more gametime too - on the run in I think Marti got to an 11 he implicitly trusted to get the job done, but as we had to wait so late for safety, he didn't want to experiment too much

For the bettors, Italy won Eurojury which is always a great bellweather of a top 5 performance or indeed the winner, but also are a televote monster:

Their televote performance since it's been split out:

3/18/6/3/3/1/8/6

If they get a good spot, they're a brilliant each way bet if their current price holds

This is fundamentally untrue, and is a lazy heuristic.

In the UK we have historically treated it as a bit of a joke, but in the rest of Europe it's serious business. A lot of people vote for neighbouring countries because they've entered famous "for there" entries, who will have done huge promo tours. Italy for example are a televote behemoth every year because their artists will have charted all over Europe. The UK actually tried this with Sam Ryder and lo behold, would've won if not for the war. The Big 5 are actually at a bit of a disadvantage - everyone else needs to qualify so they have to work harder on their promo meaning they end up with more "famous" entries (or other issues - a few years ago Malta got busted sinking £50k of their promo budget backing their own song on Betfair trying to contract the price to frame themselves as favourites lol).

The number one correlator to winning is actually key and BPM - we keep entering in major when minor always wins, and the keep entering the death beat of 128bpm (accounts for like 8 of the last 10 last place finishes).

The secondary correlation to winning is simply slot. It doesn't matter where you're from, it matters when you're on

Transfer rumours 2024
at 09:57 8 May 2024

I really liked Hayden, I thought he really raised the game in central midfield - no surprise that Colback really came to life once he had some competition. But he was a short term solution, and job done. But he's on way too much money to be what we're looking for.

But we need to learn from the StefJo situation - instead of thinking "what was it that he brought that improved us and how can we find that on our budget?" we just signed the ageing man himself.

Hayden was calm, played on the turn. We need that in cm to complement Field and Colback. We have also lacked athleticism in the middle of the park for the better park of a decade now, wouldn't mind an athlete to do a lot of running in there

No, Antti. We must be doling out contracts non stop, until I no longer like the player at which point the club are fools for not insisting they play for free

I absolutely adore Eurovision, went to the semis in Liverpool last year, was incredible.

I'm not watching this year I'm not arrogant enough to call it a boycott, I'm just not watching a TV show. I don't want to open up a political discussion, just stating my POV, but after 2 years of "Stay strong Ukraine!!!!" and rightly booting out Russia, I'm not sure I could stomach the hypocrisy this go around

3 moments for me

1. the watford winner - those covid games were a dark time but that winner was proper aubergine emoji

2. one of the first games back was Orient which was terrible, but albert slotting the winning pen and getting in the crowd - GOAT tier

3. Was on holiday in Ghana last October and was watching City vs Utd in a bar in Accra. I was cheering along for FPL purposes and got chatting to a local who was doing the same. Asked me who I supported and said QPR and he replied "Albert Adomah plays for you right?" Love players who can build those connections

In case you haven't seen, this is because Terry recently did a sit down interview saying because he was found not guilty he deffo didn't do it, and Anton and Rio are the bad guys for blanking him and coming together to make a statement to end racism - imo a weird thing to do if he didn't do it. It's one of the biggest piles of contradictory drivel I've ever seen, and I back Anton 100% in clapping back on him

I agree Antti. Players can just be crap, or not right for a club, it doesn't require a character assassination or painting them as history's greatest monster every time
