Parking on double yellows. One rule for one.......... on 21:17 - Jan 29 by controversial_jack
Councils don't have special legal powers, they have to abide by legislation like everyone else
Indeed. Good thing that the powers councils have in the area of parking enforcement etc are provided for and granted to them by legislation in that case.

They have to use the same judicial process as everyone else has to, just as we could take them to court under the same legislation

So are you saying that the councils can over ride legislation etc at a whim so to speak?
Thanks for your input ECB, most interesting!

A few weeks ago my daughter dropped me off outside the Grosvenor Casino, it was at 8.0 o'clock in the evening. It took me 20 seconds to get out of the car and onto the pavement. It was in the Bus Lane but when I inquired from the Bus Company no buses use High St after 6.30 in the evening. I am the holder of a Disable Blue Badge and it was on display, the reason I stopped in the Bus Lane was that the Disabled Parking Bay opposite was full with cars not displaying a Blue Badge I wrote to the Council explaining all this, their reply was pay up or else. I did pay inside the time given and it was £35. .

They will use the carrot and the stick to get you to pay. The carrot being the reduced fee if you pay early, and the stick being the threat of legal action.
It's your decision which one you go for.Pay up and they make money, or do your research and take it to court, but I guess it's too late now as you have contracted with the council

Controversial Jack have you ever actually challenged any authority n the way you often post on here? I am really interested as I find most of your "advice" is usually flawed in one way or another.
Life is an adventure or nothing at all.

In which way is it flawed? It's not advice either.

How have you contracted with the council?
My query was about your general attitude to parking fines and other such comments you have previously posted, I was just interested if you had any success yourself using these tactics?

Of course he hasn't. Some of his lot have tested their theories in court and invariably lost and some of them even sent down for contempt. If they weren't such annoying time wasters they'd be hilarious. The amount of time and money public organisations spend on these dweebs is ridiculous.

I've never paid one yet, but I never use council car parks, so they won't get a penny from me either way

This may help to explain some of these issues to you. He's very knowledgeable this guy, but there will be some on here who will disagree

Again, not true.
The Government has made £15million in the past five years by selling the names and addresses of more than six million motorists to wheel clampers and car park operators.
Nearly 70 private firms, including bailiffs, debt collectors, solicitors and finance companies, are allowed access to the database of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, which holds personal information about Britain's 38million drivers.
