As always our main and biggest battles are against the likes of Burnley Stoke Watford Hull Middlesbrough West Brom. The old sheep mentality is raising its ugly head again and that spells problems. Cool heads are needed. Not doom , gloom and panic.

I don't buy this talk that we're playing defensively. That wouldn't be such a bad thing if we did it properly - Sousa showed how to be successful with a defensive style, and Rodgers and Laudrup employed a very effective defensive gameplan at times (thinking of Man City home/Everton away). But we couldn't have had much complaint if we'd conceded fifteen goals in the last three games. We're not defensive, we're just crap. |  | | |

Watching the game Sunday, it was clear that barely a single player was aware of where the rest of their team mates were. I lost count of the number of times a player had a decision to make and inevitably took the wrong option. Several times a clear through pass was on to move forward and attack, only for them to knock it 3 feet sideways or backwards, totally oblivious to anything outside their own little 10 foot wide circle of the pitch.
And the endless bloody dithering... on the edge of the opponent's box, on the halfway line, on the wing trying to decide if we should cross, every time we have a throw in (90% of which we just throw to the opposition anyway - seriously, have you seen any team concede possession from throw ins as often as we do?) First thing must surely be to just get some urgency about our play and coach some awareness and speed in decision making so we stop looking so pedestrian. [Post edited 20 Sep 2016 16:53]

I totally agree, except for the last part. You shouldn't have to coach in "awareness", they have been playing together long enough to know a Swans shirt from a Soton one.
Although on the PC it wasn't quite so easy at times, especially if you are a bit colour blind.
Perhaps they should all be tested for colour blindness?

Do we really need 10 games to realise we are gash and dont have a strong enough squad? We could see this when the transfer window closed, and given our games coming up, it hard to see how we will have got many more points before then.
Remember, we lost to Hull, but Burnleys Championship side just about and nicked a point off a suicidal Chelsea. Changes need to be made asap somwhere or we will end up going on another awful 13 or 14 game streak like we did under Monk last season, only difference being we have far less quality in the squad now its all been shifted to prep for the next round of dividends. |  |

A team of average players with a sprinkling of stars can survive, but when you sell the stars you are in trouble (especially if the only one left goes through a bad patch). There is no history of the particular eleven who took the field on Sunday doing well over a sustained period. The only hope I see is Baston, but it is a big ask to come into the EPL and start scoring straight away. | | | |
