When we get a free kick 30 - 40yds from our goal, why don't we take our time and send the 3 centre backs forward to the edge of the opponents box and take a long free kick?
Instead, we take it quickly, pass it around the back 4 invariably with it ending up with Fabianski.

Because we're not managed by Allardyce or Pulis or any of the others who play hoofball.

The same reason we play out from the back (or used to)

Opposition pressure creates space.

Wait. So youre asking why we dont send our defenders up into the opposition box when we have free kicks from well within our own half?

What could possibly go wrong?

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."
Poll: Hattricks
