Swansea City v Watford : Matchday Thread : Sat 2nd Jan 21 : THE AFTERMATH 23:38 - Dec 30 with 10541 views | NotLoyal | Swansea City v Watford Saturday January 2nd 2021 Liberty Stadium Kick Off 3pm TV SWANS TV & Hornets HIVE Paid subscriptions Match Officials DARREN BOND Daniel Leach and Mark Pottage Fourth Official : John Busby This is the first meeting between the sides in the championship for nearly eleven years. The last league meeting was in the premier league in 2015 at Watford which the swans won 2-1. The sides did meet in the league cup in 2019 which Watford won 2-1 in a controversial game. Swansea City record v Watford Games won: 22 Games drawn:10 Games lost: 17 First meeting 02 Sep 1920 Swansea Town 2 Watford 1 Division Three (South) Watford in 2021 Until April 2019, when Watford played at Vicarage Road their players traditionally entered the pitch at the start of the game to the Z-Cars theme tune. However, in mid-April 2019 the team changed their entrance song to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" More about Elton later, as you would expect. Head coach Xisco Muñoz Assistant head coach Roberto Cuesta Striker Luther Blissett holds the record for Watford appearances, having played 503 matches in all competitions between 1976 and 1992, and his 415 appearances in The Football League during the same period is also a club record. Blissett holds the corresponding goalscoring records, with 186 career Watford goals, 148 of which were in the league. The records for the most league goals in a season is held by Cliff Holton, having scored 42 goals in the 1959—60 season. The highest number of goals scored by a player in a single game at a professional level is the six registered by Harry Barton against Wycombe Wanderers in September 1903. Luther Blissett being a Watford player with another man called John What do we know about the Watfords Not dissimilar to the Waltons, the family with 17 children all born in a minute a while ago, Watfords also are unique. Whilst we all know about the Waltons, the Watfords are slightly different. Primarily they are made out of an ingredient called brimson, many people in that Watfords are made out of brimson. Prime example is a man called Brimson, a character from the old Charles Dickens days who was in a sexual relationship with Bob Cratchett's wife Cerys. We have sourced a photograph of this person and transferred him in to modern day man. Brimson the man who bagged Cerys Cratchett behind Bobs back When Bob found out about Brimson he spent many nights dreaming up ways to kill him, or generally maim him. Unfortunately Inspector Button was working in the area and was trialling a new radio made out of cheese and stopped him. Nobody knows how he did it, but he wasn’t an inspector for nothing. Luckily the wrath of a Cratchett never came to fruition for Brimson Things to do in Watford Harry Potter lives in a studio in Watford and if you ring him he will take you round his studio for money. Cheslyn Gardens is a nice spot, especially for doggers, you can get a big mouthful of ham with a spreadable cheese ending for no money at all. Just bring your car, your mrs and your mobile phone. Another great place to visit is Bushey Rose Garden, now Rose who opened the bushey rose garden some while ago was another let’s say less scrupulous of Hertfordshire ladies. Yes, her bushey roses were known throughout the county but she didn’t make good use of available personal hygiene amenities locally. At times people would stop and sniff and say ‘Ooooooh, that’s fishy’ then Rose would appear and they would all look at each other and give a big sigh. Finally on our adventure through the historical Watford’s is a visit to the Watford Colliseum. Built in 1938 it used to be the place to go to watch gladiators and bull fighting, sometimes a film. It became even more famous when acoustic people turned up there and made noises. It is also available to rent for parties and cookery lessons. The world famous Watford Coliseum, available for Roman fights and cookery lessons. ( Closed on Thursdays ) Subscribe on Twitter ! Swansea City v Watford : Matchday Thread : Sat 2nd Jan 21 : NEW YEARS DAY UPDATE on 15:54 - Jan 2 by AnotherJohn | Frustrating game where we look as though we have the clear beating of Watford if we push forward, but keep presenting them with chances through careless play near our penalty area. I was relieved to see that free kick sail over the bar. I've just changed from Edge to Chrome because I wasn't able to scroll through the thread to get to the end. There is some kind of glitch. |
Or in the words of my missus...fooking about. Our super keeper a prime target . Faffs around, gives a terrible pass which leads to throw in then a soft deflected shot that he gets to but rolls under him. Foster in contrast is a terrific keeper and has been for some time. A real controller and stopper. Anyway,we have gotten back into it so maybe we start to be really positive and go for the throat . Lowe is looking real quality and credit to him for putting the effort in. That said, the team is not lacking effort in any way but we simply need to screw teams down and give them nowt

Your continued knocking of Cooper is becoming tedious.....breathing tvay eastern air is affecting your reasoning. We are playing good football have created lots of chances as we did on Wednesday but like then have been mostly denied by the keeper. Funny many forget how the much lauded Laudrup didn't play with an out and out striker. Before the replies Michu was an advanced midfielder and mated the for us too

Their goal could have been prevented by Grimes being awake and Woodman making more of an effort. Makeshift defence doing well. Cracking goal from Lowe. [Post edited 2 Jan 2021 16:05]

If so,ignore.Meanwhile,it really is tedious to read the abject drivel of man love to a clown of a keeper who does his level best to undo the efforts of his team mates. He is shameful for a keeper. Now live with the tedium

Agreed. Lowe is the centre of our gravity and gives us better balance up top. Watford now bring on another giant at half time, wtf

Swansea City v Watford : Matchday Thread : Sat 2nd Jan 21 : NEW YEARS DAY UPDATE on 16:06 - Jan 2 with 1070 views | Dr_Parnassus | Not comparing talent here, clearly - but styles. Lowe reminds me of an early Arsenal version of Henry when Wenger first turned him from a winger to a striker. Strong as an ox, incredible balance and quick feet. Hangs out on the left and uses his pace and strength to make his way centrally into the box and looking for the far corner. His last few goals have been very Henry-esque in style. I’m pretty sure we will bring in a natural striker soon, but I’m not sure exactly how they will fit into the side, especially with Gibbs White about to return. Shoehorning a striker into this side may well spoil what’s effective about it.

Our goal was similar to theirs. Similar distance, lots of bodies in the way. Less power. But the terrific controller and stopper couldn’t get to it either.

But it didn’t come from an innocuous situation from which we created trouble for ourselves. It’s tough way to concede. Anyway,it’s over. Let’s go boys
