Ex Wales footballer Ron Davies is still one goal ahead of Haaland.
Ron scores 37 goals in the old First Division in 1966/67 season.
A few weeks ago Haaland looked set to easily break that record.
He now has one game to match or beat it.

Ron had to face the likes of Ron Harris, Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith etc and had no protection at all.

Those three you mention would have cut Haaland in half.

42 games in a season compared to 38 now, but nevertheless it was a fantastic achievement from Ron, who was brilliant in the air

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I saw Ron score for Wales with a header from a cross, (@ Wrexham in the old home internationals) he jumped so high, the defenders heads only came to his waist !

The two greatest Wales strikers names have always been Ron Davies and Wyn Davies.

Wyn Davies and friends.

Only player I've seen higher in the air was Ossie Ardiles.

Coincidentally this picture is against Liverpool.
And it was Tommy Smith ex Liverpool who sent Ossie higher when he played for Swansea 😂

The post world cup ticker tape welcome for Ossie from the Spurs fans at the Vetch.
Behind the goal.

Then Tommy Smith hits him early on with a typical Tommy tackle, welcome to Wales.
I think it was right in front of the Centre Stand.
A 2-2 draw even though Spurs had Hoddle as well.

Ardiles limped off later on.

And then for the replay we went to White Hart Lane … 🦢

Lets not forget, old Tommy could play a bit as well, not only put in a bit of a challenge.

Very true.

Strangely just a single England cap …. Vs Cymru.

What a European Cup Final header he scored.

Ardilles had only just gone over the top on our young striker Roberts. Ref allowed justice.

Ron once scored 4 v Man Utd at Old Trafford against Best Law and Charlton with Jimmy Rimmer in goals.

Rn liked to hang on the back stick and the wing back was electric and crossed like Leighton James.

John Sydenham, was a left wing not a wing back, he was on the left and Terry Paine on the right.

They were the reason Southampton got promoted to the first division and supplied the crosses for Ron that season

I though Terry Paine was a defender as well. I remember Paine but not Sydenham.

Perer Rodrigues , albiet from the dark side of the M4 , always came across as a good old fashioned footballer , Wales and Southampton , never got the headlines though .

Terry was predominantly a right winger, but could play all along the front line, spent near enough his whole career at Southampton, and capped by England

He's 4th on the list of the most domestic league appearances in English league football with 824 matches.

Tommy Hutchinson is 5th with 794 matches.

Robbie is 10th with 781 matches.

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎
