Poll: Should the summer transfer window close before the season starts?

Saw that does that mean one of our centre back will be leaving ?
Just another question given Duff stating he needs Lefties is Olloe Cooper right or left footed?

I'd hope it would mean we sign a left sided CB so Wood can go back to his natural right side and Darling goes back to the subs bench.
Desperately need a quality midfielder, preferably one who can organise.

If we get in a lefty WB, wonder how Keys would look in the middle of the park given our right looks covered with both Ashby and Abdulai. Worth a punt in the middle against Northampton?

I think Abdulai needs to be allowed to concentrate on a favoured position. He's played right back (wing back) in preseason, looked like attacking right midfield on Saturday but is listed (and played academy football and Scotland under 21) as a central or defensive midfielder who has filled in at right back.
As an attacking right sided midfielder he certainly adds pace and stature.
I like him.

We don't want more square peg experiments, surely. Why play Abdulai our of position to play Key out of position?

Ashby was far from convincing on Saturday so needs minutes to get him acclimated and see if he's worthy of that shirt over Key in the first place.

So do you play Ashby on Tuesday to see if he gets better again low division team or play Keys at right back to prove he can?
Either way doesn't prove who is the better fit in a championship game.It may take Duff a little time to work out his best team with skills set each player has, as for players playing out of position Keys while adjusting to championship football did pretty well, thought one or two of the right fitting pegs could have done better.
Team game, manager has to use what he thinks is the best
fit and that isI would think going to change for the Northampton game.

After less than 70 minutes on Saturday Ashby will surely start. Had a preseason so he'll be fit enough, but in a very different team and system.

Will be really disappointing if we end up spending significant money on a specialist right wing back, he looks like he has the quality, and then never gets to play his actual position because PL loanees get preferential treatment or we fail to sign someone we actually need for the left.

So where would you play Keys who from what little we saw on Saturday on the left side out of position seems more than capable at this level, but like Ashby was at times given the ball with very few options with no one moving into the middle of the park leaving them isolated after the ball was worked from one side to the other.

Key should play at right wing back against West Brom. Doesn't need to start in the cup.

If Ashby isn’t deemed good enough, surely Key will be playing there.
Duff has already said they need a left footer, not a right

.

Thought Ashby was up against a quality player on saturday and handled himself well but agree I'd would play Keys as the first choice on the right.
Leaves Duff with a descion to make about formations if he plays four at the back on the right side he has the choice of at three or four if he include Congreve giving cover for full backs or wingers.
Any progression on the left side/footed players?
