Ravens to have their wings clipped at lunchtime 11:02 - Nov 8 with 1874 viewswessex_exile

I'll start the matchday thread on behalf of Durham, and will it the case of the first 11 fit players who arrive at the JCS will be our starting line-up?

My guess will be:

Macey

Vincent-Young
Tucker
Araujo
Iandolo

Lisbie
Bishop
Williams
Oni
Vincent-Young

Mbick

Subs
Pick the bits out of whoever's left, but Tovide, Smith and Flanagan will be amongst them. Hunt as well, though I won't be surprised if Danny finds some way of fitting him into the starting XI, but instead of whom?

A good chance to keep the league unbeaten run going, but it will be against a very tough physical Bromley (just what we need, more impact injuries). The above assumes Payne, Read and Anderson are all out, but we'll know soon enough I guess. The early kick-off (thanks $ky) won't inconvenience Bromley that much, but I doubt there'll be many more than 100 of them in a slightly sub-5k crowd.

U's to put on the style in front of the cameras and romp away with a 4-0 win!

Well, some good news - Read and Anderson both fit, so the U's line-up:

Macey

Vincent-Young
Tucker
Araujo
Iandolo

Lisbie
Bishop
Tovide
Read
Anderson

Mbick

Subs
Smith
Hunt
Flanagan
Williams
Goodwin
Edwards
Powell

Tovide and Mbick start - does that foretell 442, or still 451, with Tovide deeper than Mbick?

Difficult first half against a big physical Bromley side playing to their strengths, including slowing the game down whenever they can, but Lisbie should have buried his chance. An early goal for the U's second half will make life a bit easier.

Typically sucker-punched, and if you could name two goal scorers, Sowunmi and Cheek would be top of the list.

Visitors did what was expected on the tin, in playing a well organised side that deny space and hold there ground. No surprises here.
U’s slow and ponderous throughout, playing right into their hands.
Uninspired performance.

Exactly right, especially about slow pace. Against such a big powerful side need to move the ball quickly. Too many high balls were meat and drink to their defenders. The triumvirate of Tovide, Mbick and Lisbie didn't work at all well. Disappointing and a few steps back from recent good performances.

Got completely sucked in to their way of "playing" and by the hour mark and had run out of ideas and that's when Bromley decided to turn the screw. A disappointing result and performance against a well drilled and hard working Bromley side who did everything that was expected of them. I do wish there was a way of speeding teams up though as it seems all too easy for one team to play as slow as they like with little or no punishment for doing so. Evidently the ball was in play for 18 minutes in the first half. Does any football fan want to watch just 18 minutes of football across a 45+ minute half? If a team wants to bring up their centre backs for a long throw, which they are completely entitled to do, I'm not sure they should be allowed what feels like unlimited time to do so.

Poll: How many polls will Leadbelly do this season?

18 minutes of play in 45 is an incredible stat!

I believe in a typical 45 minutes of football the average is around 32 minutes.

It may be slightly less.

So around a third of the ninety minutes wiped out.....l know this delaying tactic was once used by a Championship club who would bring up their centre backs for throw-ins and corners / free kicks.

We even interviewed their manager in 2008 who told us as much.

They were promoted to The Premiership a week following the discussion.

The Manager had a CV with promotions all over it.
