In this hour, perhaps the most fateful in history, I send to every household of Rs fans, both at home and overseas, this message, spoken with the same depth of feeling for each one of you as if I were able to cross your threshold and speak to you myself.
For the fourth time in the lives of many of us, we are at Wembley and war.
Over and over again, we have been beaten by our enemies on this battleground but today we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in first half, we shall fight in the second half and if need be in extra time, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our goal, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight for every ball, we shall fight for ourselves, we shall fight for each other and we shall fight for this great club and its fans; we shall never surrender and today victory will be ours.
