season 47-8 handbook song 11:20 - Oct 10 with 276 viewsade_qpr

just got my hands on QPR official handbook by the supporters club 1947-8 inside is a song just written by a supporter sung to the tune of There is a Tavern in the Town

There is a team in London Town
( London Town )
That never ever lets you down
( lets you down )
And they are known to fame 'cause they always play the game,
And Queens Park Rangers is their name
( is their name )
With Reg Allen in the goalmouth,
And Fred Durrant in the centre,
And with Smith and Ivor Powell in the half-back line,
Right to the top they'll surely climb
( surely climb )
So bring your mothers, brothers, sisters and your pals
And start them shouting . . . "Up the R's"
( "Up the R's )

Don't know if it still exists or would suit this era I leave that for you people to debate but thought it was so appropriate and brilliant timing for a supporter to write as that season was QPR's 1st ever promotion into div 2

Ivor Powell I assume is the world's oldest coach retiring last year at 95

Also noted that Willesden FC was our nursery side in it's first ever season won the Middlesex Senior Leagues googled but couldn't find any reference to team of that time or League can any enlighten me further about either.

One final note "The ground improvements carried out during the close season are due to the hard work put in by players and staff" How things have changed, can you imagine players today helping to build a new stadium?

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
