I saw Jimi Hendrix several times and when he was not over-drugged he was superb - the best I've seen for playing and as a showman. He always had good musicians around him, but he stood out. I think Jimi didn't realise how good he was and was always suffering from self confidence issues. I don't really know why as when he was at his best there were none better. I did see one performance when he seemed confused and a bit tentative in his playing, which I put down to the drugs he took, but it may have also been a psychological crisis which eventually led to his end.
If McCartney passed up the oportunity to play with him and Miles Davis it really was PM's loss. Lets face it McCartney, after the Beatles, was only good for bublegum music and most of that was crap.

Couldn't see it, Blob. What did you say?
(I will give a certain tolerance for any Welsh/Liverpool cross-border tension.)
If you click on "view all" I'm right at the bottom....Gaaaaaaaaaaaarettthhhhhh from Aaaaaaaaaaaberystwyth... I was shocked at such a violent reaction. But some good souls(inclusding Scotty backed me up) Saw Jimi numerous times and I got the hint he was fed up being the wild man of rock and really wanted to play blues and serious music in the end. All the musicians I knew at the time didn't rate Paul at all,it was all Jack Bruce they wanted.
Thanks for that one Met.There's a regular Experience Hendrix tour every year with various lineups....
