This list would simply not be complete without mentioning Ollie. As has been mentioned by so many people so often, you'll struggle to find anyone who will happily give you his undivided attention for as long as you can handle it in such an all-encompassing manner without ever making you feel like he feels he's superior to you. |

...whilst in the meantime risking p*ssing off your fanbase (because of course we're all too stupid to see what's going on behind the scenes, and football clubs are in no waya festering cesspit of gossip and rumour..) Nice work Ruben |

To be honest, the meat of this story is no different from the longer WLS piece we were talking about earlier, just with a slightly sensationalised headline in the typical Sun way which we all love oh so much.. "Could" quit - in the same way that they famously reported that we "could" get a 12-points deduction in relation to Ale Faurlin, and decided to splash it all over the back page about 24 hours before the verdict was passed. That one went well for them, didn't it...? |

I'm in the "he's staying" camp. I think people are adding two plus two together and making five when they talk about him leaving. He's kept his cards pretty close to his chest on a number of issues over this last year or so. I think he genuinely cares deeply about the club, and this comes across in that same interview. In his mind, I suspect he's thinking "I've proved myself under some tough circumstances, now its time for me to leverage from that in my discussions with the CEO to get what I really want/need." |

I remember that day oh so well, having been to the Derby home game that season as my first time at HQ. Oh, the excitement... and then the crushing brutality of the Norwich game. Somehow, even as a wide-eyed hopeful 11 year-old, I had a sense that our race was run.. |

Fair enough SE - I herewith formally announce an end to hostilities I do admit to having allowed myself to be triggered on several occasions by a particular tone you have struck, but I do agree with your plea from a couple of weeks ago to "play the ball not the man". With that in mind, I shall endeavour to engage with your future contributions from the same starting point as I generally look to do with everyone else's. [Post edited 12 Apr 10:39]

Just when we're all happily enjoying the Spring sunshine and the fact that the club has pretty much successfully negotiated its way through another season of ups and often self-inflicted downs, in you come as per usual with your own uniquely individual brand of pissing on everyone's chips. You can call yourself "deranged" if you wish. (I have my own views on the accuracy of your self-analysis, which I shall keep officially to myself on this particular occasion). I'm not sure I've ever for one moment imagined our ramshackle little club to be "kings of infinite space". Just a place which appropriately honours its past triumphs and heroes, and pushes to be a little better each day in every sense both on and off the pitch is good enough for me, and probably the majority of posters in our small self-sustaining LFW community. You talk about criticality being a form of love. if it were objective criticism delivered in a supportive way, then you may be right. But you don't really do that very well, do you? There's an undertone of vindictiveness and self aggrandisement in virtually every sentence you pour out - so what exactly is your agenda? You say this season has been more bad than good - I for one disagree with that quite strongly, given our top 6 mid-season form and the way that the teenagers have contributed when called upon. That gives us something solid to work with during what is obviously going to be another summer of upheaval. As for all your blah blah about recruitment and how much Cifuentes was or wasn't involved, I'm not sure its actually that relevant any more considering we've got 8 or 9 first teamers out of contract and the unsubstantiated rumours about a rift between the CEO and Head Coach keeping us all from getting bored once the season has officially ended on the pitch. So for once I actually agree with you about next season being a "barrel of questions". I'm just not sure you needed to offload at quite such length to come to a conclusion that was blindingly self-evident. |

With specific reference to Madsen, its pretty clear that Marti rates him, despite what's been written here and elsewhere. The reference to "everything he's been through" when praising him after the Oxford game the other night shows that there's clearly been something going behind the scenes with him, but that Marti's been trying to support him as best as he can within the context of keeping us in the Championship/dealing with injuries etc. There's a player in there, as most people I think recognise. Maybe we're all guilty of wanting too much too quickly. |

Again, referring back to Radio London, this very point came up in one of the recent performances (I forget which one). The summariser (and again I've forgotten who it was, but he was a former QPR youth player who then had a long career at Leyton Orient) was making exactly the point that we've all been debating throughout the season about working with the players you've got and setting up in a system that enables them to maximise their strengths vs trying to force them into an ideal that just doesn't work for them. As we all know, though, our beloved game is awash with fads and fashions. What seems to get forgotten in this brave new Guardiola-esque world is that if you are brave enough to buck the trend and stick to a winning formula long enough, everybody starts to think you're a revolutionary genius! |

* I mean our first two goals (obvs), although given the fact that two Oxford players so helpfully contributed, maybe I was right first time! |

There was lots of praise for Daniel Bennie on the Radio London commentary from Phil Parry and Steve Brown. Sounded like he put in a really controlled and mature performance that stretched the play in behind the Oxford back line and set the foundation which led indirectly to the first two Oxford goals.* Not that I want to pre-empt your End of Term report, Clive, but I think a strong positive from this season is the impact that all the teenagers have made at various times. And I think you're missing the rather obvious point that you were looking for something you weren't going to be getting from someone you clearly weren't going to be getting it from. More to the point what made you think you had the right to expect this mysterious "insight" in the first place? [Post edited 6 Apr 15:18]

...But you're making the assumption there that the club still values old style scouting in the mode of Mel Stride, and that may perhaps not be the case. |
