TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Aldershot Town
at 20:25 29 Mar 2025

That Aldershot team was exactly the opposition Dale needed after the last couple of home games.
It could have been a lot more than four to be honest.
BJ picked exactly the right team so credit there.
The return of Gordon was a major boost. He’s so influential at both ends of the pitch.
And I think BJ got his subs right too although a couple were enforced.
Aldershot couldn’t cope with the movement of Hendo and Rodney and when their manager made defensive changes it gave Tarryn the chance to run amok. He’s such a danger when given a bit of space and freedom.
Just hope that Beckwith and Hogan only picked up minor knocks.
The keeper did well too. His distribution was first class.

Halifax have now gone four games without scoring a goal and Gateshead’s results haven’t been much better.

Wages presumably?
The likes of Norwood don’t come cheap.

Would you take out of the cup & play offs if it meant McNulty being sacked?
at 13:50 27 Mar 2025

Brackley, Kings Lynn, Hereford and Oxford are all in NLN this year so there’s still some travelling involved.
And you’d lose gate receipts from visits by teams like Oldham, York and Halifax.
I get what you mean though.

RIP Peter Lever
at 11:24 27 Mar 2025

Great pace bowler who was an integral component of the great Lancashire team of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Deserved his test call up. One of the longest run ups to the wicket that I’ve ever seen though!
Nice bloke away from the cricket as well. He was a neighbour of ours in Shawclough for a few years and used to enjoy a pint in the Healey Hotel.

Gateshead signed experienced forward Frank Nouble from Yeovil earlier this week.
I suspect he’ll be in a hotel up there though, it’s not the easiest of commutes!

Promotion would make it an easier target to reach as away supporters figures may well increase.
If you’re talking about 5000 home fans I think it would take a sustained period of onfield success to achieve.

This figure of 5000 is becoming a real millstone if you ask me. Wish it had never been quoted.

If we were to beat Spennymoor the chances of winning at Wembley may be clearer as, by coincidence, we play both the teams in the other semifinal in the next six days.

Outnumbered in midfield, not winning many second balls.
Nice work down the right at times but final pass all too often cut out.
Only one goal in it though!

It does seem though that a good chance of escaping this league may have been wasted.
Halifax are complaining that they have half a dozen players who are injured long term, Oldham aren’t firing on all cylinders and Gateshead are in a shocking run of form.
Looking at next year it may well be that Scunthorpe and Carlisle might be in the NL and looking strong sides.
I would hate to think that we may fall into the same category as the likes of Gateshead, Halifax and Altrincham over the next few years; nice footballing team who usually flirt with the playoffs without ever seriously threatening to go up.
Lord knows what will happen to Project 5000 then.
