The Official Michael Laudrup Press Conference Day Thread
at 00:16 20 Feb 2014

I am Danish but only followed Laudrup while he was at Swansea. I thought he would do well. And he did thanks to Swansea and the premier league I think. He would have done better if he had listened to the board regarding changing the staff probably it was Monk they wanted to work with Laudrup so he could anytime and not later than next season take over from ML. I am pleased Swansea are doing ok now with Monk. They will stay in the PL. Laudrup may have been able to add value against Napoli because of his international experience and his name and he seems to like the cups so maybe also in the FA cup but not sure if he would have kept them in the PL which at the end of the day is more important. But maybe not for ML. He probably liked the idea of doing well in the FA cup and in Europe to promote himself for a big club next season in the PL or Spain. Now I think his reputation is damaged to much. Only following ML at Swansea did I realize how he depends and closely works with this agent Tutumlo who mainly cares about transactions making commissions. I fear for ML that his career as manager could easily pan out similar to that of Lothar Matheus the former German international who went from club to club and hardly ever stayed more than a year.

This is my first post here. I have followed Swansea since ML started at the club. I really hoped that this time ML would stay long term at a club and have success as I think he had the potential to. But I felt something like this could happen. It is as if he is never quite happy as it is not Barca, Real Madrid or ManU. The problem is that he will never get to a big club before he has had long term success at a mid size club like Swansea. As a kid growing up I used to be a Spurs fan and I think he may fit better in there. If he is lucky he gets another go at it. Today Danish paper BT wrote in an article that Laudrups truth of what happened is probably just his version and that the key reason for his problems at Swansea was the transfers and the agent Tutumlo. I think that could be true and there maybe also lies one of the breaches of contract as there may be several. Totumlo is a dealmaker. He likes transactions. Selling and buying players. Finding ML a new club or advertising deals etc. His business is transactions. He does not care about continuity. ML is making a big mistake with him as an adviser I think and insisting on using him at the clubs he manages. It is a shame. As a player he seemed to be smarter.
