Liverpool Carabao Cup Game Matchday Thread

Nice to see Bob the Builder and Saints show what was possible, without all the fcking about at the back, had SR chosen to sack Martin in the Summer. Hey we could've been contenders - to stay in the league. Football management SR consult my arse!

Not a bad second half with a manager who had 6 months at Stockport in the National League.

Not acceptable. I blame myself. It's not the style of play. We played well in the second half after I told the players to be braver on the ball and with the passing. We still believe.

One thing's for sure : a lot of the fans know a lot more about the simple game of football than SR or Martin. Is there anybody out there who still thinks Martin is any better than an escaped psychiatric patient?

Time for defending Martin and SR finishes tonight - even the cretins and ring-lickers can see that but I suspect they'll carry on saying something nice about Martin or SR. They're the shisters; we are the red and white army - fighting for the best for Southampton FC not pathetic mediocrity.

Little did I realise I was being too optimistic with a predicted 4-1 loss. SR and RM march on destroying our club.

I wonder What Francis Benali Thinks Of Le Tissier
at 14:15 10 Dec 2024

Matt's entitled to say what he wants- you can criticise or not. It's especially if you've got any evidence yourself - which of course you don't have.
He makes makes some good points, not saying I agree with all, but at least look into to it seriously yourself.
The big corporations have conned billions from the public purse and privatisation is shredding the NHS and destroying our water supplies etc - and people with less acumen than Le Tissier choose to criticise something they know less about than Le Tissier.
Just try a little research, you might educate yourself - or is that wrong as well as free speech ?
Keep believing the BBC and taking those boosters.

VAR again
at 14:03 10 Dec 2024

Clear shove in the back for everyone to see except the VAR officials - definitely cheating. Time to scrap VAR. All these referees mean that it's not a game of football anymore; it's a game of ref's. One ref's plenty. VAR's a fiddle and a con, clearly open to corruption. Goal line decisions that's all that's needed.

Have some decency Russell Martin: resign now. You know you're not up to the job.

Same goes to SR - do the decent thing and sell on to someone with a bit of football nous and who gives a shit about the club and its supporters. The clue's in that last word.

Hasenhuttl played suicide football, lost his grip and wouldn't change, just like Martin. Can you remember two 9-0 loses in two seasons - no top flight club has ever achieved that 'feat'. I was still trying to get over the shaming 7-0 defeat by Leeds in 1972 (although there were as great but less publicised slaughters).
SR stuck with the former and choose the latter - two disastrous 'decisions'. The FA should ban these and similar self-assured cretins from ruining football clubs; they're certainly not fit and certainly not proper. Problem is: the FA aren't either.

Nothing left for decent, law-abiding ordinary unemployed/under-employed, part-time/temporary laboured folk any more ( no more working class because there are no serious manual/semi-skilled jobs worth talking about and AI's taking over): football's too expensive; top sport taken away from terrestrial TV, including darts.; the price of beer is only for yuppies; travel - get on Shanks's - everything else is overpriced; women's expectations are driven by middle class Media ie far too high to be healthy; no decent housing. If you're 'lucky' they might send you to fight and die in a proxy war or die waiting for treatment at home. Shitty times, getting shitter.

Positive thoughts - Number 1. : Countdown
at 10:48 9 Dec 2024

Odds on we'll lose Ramsdale, KWP, Bednarek, THB, Fernandes and Dibling ie all our players capable of playing in the Prem. Frankly, it'll be a struggle to stay in the Champ. Looking ahead - team for next season: Lumley, Sugawara ? Wood, Edwards, Bree, Aribo, Smallbone, Downes? Armstrong, Archer, Ameyaw. Let's get our coats!

"Ankersen's motto is, "Embrace failure". So, that's what he'll continue to do."

I think W Ankersen was directing that at the club not himself and his business fortunes.

Tragedy for SFC.

I see you've got some faith in us remaining in the Championship. Once all the decent players leave; they'll struggle in the championship. Maybe then Martin will come into his own and lead us to Championship mediocrity but I doubt whether he's good enough to keep a poor Saints team up.
Imagine the team: Lumley, Bree, Taylor, Edwards, Wood, Manning, Smallbone, Aribo, Armstrong, Diaz, Fraser - tip-tappying their jolly way through a Championship season. Not even sure some of that team will still be there. Surely, Sheff U, Burnley and AN Other will come in for a few.
