Must say the best thing about last nights game besides the result was the number of shots from the edge of the box. In recent months we seem to have been trying to thread balls through and when teams sit back like Chelsea we came unstuck. Far better to get a shot on target and make the keeper work. One thing is guaranteed regardless of possession no shots will mean no goals!!! |

So far the only issue we seem to have suffered is not sticking the ball in the net. Puel has the team playing well and the possession we have had has been very impressive but we haven't seen the end result. Pelle went through a bit of a drought, Mane too but it seems our strikers have broken their ducks. Personally I think the team is playing better football than last season (maybe just continued improvement from RK) but there seems to be a cohesion and more confidence on the ball. Let's see what the rest of the season holds. |

Long and Redmond play off the shoulder of the last defenders but at Utd last week we just didn't move the ball forward quick enough to allow that to happen bar that one unfortunate miss. If we build our attacks slowly and let teams defend deep then Austin is a better bet as a target man. But if we counter attack and hit teams on the break it's Long and Redmond for me all day. |

Didn't think he was bad for us in the great scheme of things, if we were converting shots taken into goals he wouldn't have received the negative focus he has. Our problems are more in front of our opponents goal than at the back. Long periods of possession amounting to nothing and then losing by the odd goal. I wish Caulker all the best. |

The difference last night was six great strikes. Certainly didn't look like a 6-1 game and with the exception of the last goal we still looked threatening and in the game. How often does any premiership team have a 6 goals from 7 shots return. So Caulker didn't show Sturridge onto his weaker foot, its not like Sturridge was left with an open goal to tap it into. The second was pure class and the third a shot into a crowded penalty area that could have hit any number of players and missed on another day. Second half we came out all guns blazing but chasing the game we were caught by another good strike. I don't think Caulker, Clasie or Cedric played particularly badly last night we just came up against a Liverpool side on a 12 game unbeaten run that also included beating Manchester City 4-1. So if we still had Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and Clyne we would have won last night.... I don't believe so. Freak result let's move on! |

If we attack as we did in the second half last week we should be ok. Agree we are missing Schneiderlin as we seemed to be short of ideas when plan A wasn't working. Would like to see Juanmi get a start say ahead of JWP as he seems to be quite a handful. |

As we have either lost to transfer or injury 4 defenders, our first choice goalkeeper and our midfield puppet master I am not surprised our new additions aren't playing together as the unit they have replaced just yet. That said looking at the individuals brought in so far none of them look like bad replacements they just need time together. My only concern is the fragility of Clasie given the lack of creativity in our recent games. Maybe we need another creative midfielder as back up. Still think we should be ok once the team are playing as RK wants them to. |
