He who would Valiant be - as Super U's win again at the JCS
at 23:17 28 Jan 2025

It is embarrassing, and also shows a lack of respect for the players and especially the supporters (home and away) who make their arrangements to attend the match and then find it's called off. At least it was postponed earlier than on some occasions last season. It's not good enough. We deserve better.

And it's easier to do all that when the club's league status is relatively secure, unlike 12 months ago.

Who knows? The "official" explanation from DC is that the owner went "over budget" in the four previous seasons "to keep the club in the league". So now it's time to re-balance the books by, presumably, cutting costs and selling/releasing players. To me, it's not a fire sale but certainly shows a complete lack of ambition on the part of the owner.

I think the first half of Crewe v Wimbledon shows that there is little difference between us and teams toward the top. Lovely strike for the equaliser though!

Good point! Perhaps they've forgotten about it. Several weeks since that postponement.

Yep. What's the collective view on the most interesting L2 action on Sky sports plus tonight? I need my football fix!

I agree. It's incredibly disappointing that we are plauged by such a poor pitch. I know our winters are getting warmer and wetter, but it's still just about the driest and mildest part of the country. Something clearly isn't right, despite the money that was allegedly spent on it last summer. The players and supporters deserve better.

I thought the Cowleys had poached him from Lincoln?

I completely agree with your comment about Read. As far as Bishop is concerned, now that he's got over that nasty injury he seems to be growing in confidence with each game. His distribution is good and he's started to make some good surges forward. So maybe the best is still to come, hopefully.

The pitch was dreadful yesterday. Patches of sand were clearly visible. Allegedly, a lot of money was spent on it last summer. Hope RC kept the receipt!

Tovide - will he stay or will he go?
at 13:36 26 Jan 2025

As with any contract, it depends. Apparently Unilateral Extension Clauses are common, especially with younger players in the lower leagues. They are usually in favour of the club, which can then decide to extend the contract without needing the agreement of the player.

According to Transfermarkt his contract expires in 18 months (end of June 2026).

According to the physio in today's programme, Tovide is not yet ready for grass based rehab on his hamstrings. That must presumably weigh against a move in January?

Shrimps to be potted by Super U's at the JCS
at 18:16 25 Jan 2025

They were lucky not to have someone sent off earlier in the first half, for a two-footed lunge on Egbo near the corner flag. I thought Simpson did OK but no more - there was more threat from Taylor. Inexplicably, DC persists with the ineffective Anderson. It was no surprise that we posed more of a threat on the right side when he was replaced by Thorn, who looked sharp and provided the assist. We were again much too cautious after our goal - I started to worry that there might be a repeat of the match in September.

We know they have their favourites, and for some reasons Goodliffe was not one of them. Disappointed.

It's not so long ago that Iandolo was linking brilliantly with Edwards, so I think you're right that he'll start. To me, he's always looked much stronger going forward than in defence. We started with Taylor and Tovide at Morecambe so I expect DC may well start with Taylor and Simpson - I certainly hope so. Too many cautious substitutions were made toward the end of the previous meeting when we should have been looking to put 4 or 5 past them when they were down to 10 men.
