Mcnulty
at 18:07 11 Nov 2024

Would love for him to stay. He’s a great representative for the club and has done more than any to reverse the on-field slide. I can completely understand why he would go to Burton (money, league position and training facilites for a start) but I do think there’ll be a better fit in the future if he was to stay.

Either way- I hope the board look at the successes of McNulty’s reign and ensure any potential replacements build on those rather than tears any building blocks down.

I have no idea why he wasn’t asked about it during the post match interview yesterday. Really poor.

Feels like we’ve been watching the same defeat for the last 18 months. We concede a sloppy goal and then the other team largely contains us and limits any significant period of pressure. Without looking at stats it feels like the first goal pretty much dictates the subsequent performance and ultimately result.

Key players are out who would help to change this of course, but I still think we’re short somewhere. I can’t remember too many goals we’ve scored in which we’ve broken down a team who’ve had 11 men between us and the goal.

The team still seems to not understand that goals change games. The amount of chances we miss and soft goals we concede is a really worrying trend. What was an easy shut out has now turned into us hanging on. We’ve lost all momentum at the moment.

Sir Peter makes his debut
at 13:57 1 Sep 2024

Watched it online and as others have said thought it was our best team performance since COVID. A few thoughts:

- East was brilliant and drove forward into space when he could
- We genuinely look like scoring from set pieces again
- The back three were all absolutely superb
- TAR’s deliveries are the best since Bunney had his spell
- Kairo took both goals well
- Allarakia is the National League Jack Grealish
- McNicholas stopped 2/3 decent opportunities by being so positive in his sweeper keeper role

There’s no doubt the game was made easier by the early goal and shows the importance of taking our early chances. Final thing- the top coaches talk about the importance of staying compact when out of possession- our team do that brilliantly which is credit to McNulty. We’ve conceded 2 goals which were both through freak league occurrences more than anything. Our defence alone will put us in a very good position by the end of the season.

Another winger…
at 18:22 30 Aug 2024

Hopefully a good move. One of Allarakia’s best attributes is his ability to spread the oppositions defence- he’s very comfortable standing right on the touch line, drawing the opposition fullback towards him and then releasing the ball late to give our attacking midfielder space.

I thought (except for last minute wonder goal) McBride has probably played a bit too safe when receiving the ball in that space so hopefully Ayinde will run at the centre back a bit.

Burger I see as a fill-in for Gilmour.

Huge credit to McBride. I was critical of him after Tuesday as I didn’t think he was being brave enough in possession but his goal was absolutely fantastic today. Hopefully that kick starts his season.

Credit to McNulty too. Substitutions changed the game for us and 4 points from a very challenging 3 days logistically is a good return.

Edit- final well done to Ferguson. After an injury-hit time here I thought he stepped in really well today.

Anyone see what happened in the tunnel after the game? Looked like there was a bit of trouble on NLTV

Frustrating. We have to become more ruthless. We should’ve got 3 points on Saturday and 1 point today. McBride isn’t offering enough and we have to get competition for Mitchell. Both really poor today.

Must say I was disappointed by the service in the Ticket Office yesterday. I found the lady I spoke to quite rude and abrupt- this being after trying to contact the Ticket Office 3 times during stated Open hours in the week but getting no answer.

TVOS - Rochdale v Dagenham & Redbridge
at 11:11 18 Aug 2024

I was impressed and thought we were unlucky to not win by 2 or 3. Credit to Dagenham for defending, frustrating and breaking away effectively. As 442 mentioned, they managed the last section of the game excellently.

We’re clearly a much better outfit than last year and I don’t think teams will be able to sit in and frustrate us as effectively as they did last season. We created enough chances to win comfortably yesterday and I think chances will only increase once players get used to playing alongside each other. Both wing-backs impressed for different reasons. Think Allarakia (sp) has a touch of Grealish in his ability to bring players towards him before releasing the ball. Don’t think we’ve seen consistent deliveries on a par with TAR since Bunney at his best.

Been mentioned by others but think we need competition for Mitchell as it’s clear Rodney needs a physical presence to play off to be at his best. Small tweak but would also like to see the keeper release the ball a bit quicker at times. I’m sure that will come with time though.

Final thing- our corners and free kicks were generally excellent yesterday. It makes such a positive difference. Onto a very challenging Tuesday.

Think anyone undecided on getting a season ticket should listen to TAR's interview. Seems a great character to have in the dressing room.

Seems almost every signing McNulty has made this summer, regardless of position, has been with the question of how they can help us break teams down. I'm feeling very confident of a Play-Off challenge this season.

Rodney Signs New Deal
at 12:09 24 Jun 2024

Very pleased with this- I think a fully-fit Rodney is as close to a 25 goal striker as we'd be able to sign. Ironically, I thought one of his best games was when he played upfront on his own after Mitchell had been sent off, but I get the impression from a few of McNulty's comments that Rodney would rather play in a front 2.

Club Appeal Red Card..
at 16:08 4 Apr 2024

Presume McNulty spoke to the referee to clarify his reasoning behind sending him off ahead of the referee submitting his post match report.Having spoken to the referee and looked at various camera angles, can only assume he it will get overturned.

FWIW I’m still convinced it wasn’t worthy of any card.

League 1 clubs interested in Rodney
at 16:02 4 Apr 2024

I was surprised we managed to keep him last summer, as I assume for financial reasons all of our players were effectively up for free transfer assuming someone would take over their contracts. This season has for obvious reasons not quite gone to plan for him and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sign a new contract, albeit with a fairly low release clause if he was to end up on 15 goals by January. He seems settled in Manchester too which may work in our favour, but as others have said I presume a considerable wage drop would be needed.

This is awful

Whilst Brooks’ distribution was poor yesterday- and isn’t anywhere near the standard of Moulden’s- I thought his slow release in the build up to their first was completely down to Jez. Brooks had the ball in his hands and spotted Jez- who seemed neither alert to the potential of a counter attack or interested. Jez simply did a light jog with his back to the keeper similar to what Wayne Evans would do at times when getting back into position and definitely not looking to receive or run onto the ball.

Mentioned it briefly yesterday and I think it would be unfair to compare Jez’s work with the ball compared to Hayes as we’ve arguably got the best winger in the league. However his work off the ball in terms of showing for it and making runs for players to pass to was absolutely nowhere near good enough. I would be very surprised if he features on Tuesday.

Jez needs to up his game or come off. Defence are getting stick for not passing it forward quick enough but to say he’s looking disinterested is an understatement. Genuinely think he has 0 idea with what to do unless the ball is at his feet (and even with that he’s been poor.)
