You may not have the ability to understand the difference but there is a very important distinction between education and intelligence. You claim to have the former but you certainly lack the latter.

Some of the most intelligent people I have ever met have had little or poor educations.

What a well thought out and well constructed answer.

Why should I want to report you? I have far better ways of spending my time than reporting small fry like yourself. I was merely trying to point out to you that the law regarding self employment is highly complex and not as simplistic as you would like it to be. I was trying to assist you as I believe that you are getting confused between sub contractors and self employed individuals. Not all sub contractors can be self employed. There is however a special scheme within the building industry but it certainly does not apply to window cleaners.

With regards to not finding work I retired many years ago when I was 53 having run my own international consultancy business . I have not the slightest desire to seek employment.

As far as calling me a 15 carat knob I find your use of English somewhat crude and offensive but please be assured that these days I am not interested in anything less than 22 carats.

You do seem to be getting all steamed up and agitated. Calm down man it won't do you any good and will only give you indigestion and high blood pressure.

Milly of course you can sub contract work as long as the workers are themselves self employed. From some of your previous statements it would seem that such is not the case. I've already explained to you once that there are a variety of tests used to determine the employment status of an individual.

For example if you provide the buckets ladders etc you have already failed test 1 with regards to self employment.

You could get into a real mess as far as the revenue are concerned.

Milly ----once again you have shown that you are just making things up as you go along. The different Emirates that make up the UAE have different rules concerning alcohol but non of them require licences where alcohol is concerned. Sharja for example is a dry Emirate where alcohol is not available for retail sales but it is not illegal to consume it in private.

Ajman has shops which sell alcohol and nothing else and they are better stocked with fine wines and spirits than many western establishments.

In Dubai (the Emirate and not just the city) you can purchase alcohol legally in the majority of hotels and restaurants so this talk of licence requirements when you book your travel is quite frankly utter piffle balderdash and rubbish.

Has it not occurred to you yet that there are many individuals on this forum who have themselves been successful in life, have traveled widely throughout the world and are intelligent and hard working and who are in all probability considerably wealthier than you are. Perhaps you find that difficult to understand but until you do I fear you will only provide the majority of posters and readers on here a considerable amount of amusement at your stupidity.

Your understanding of business basics is worrying. The fact that a family member "shoved some funds in" has nothing to do with profit----it is to do with cash flow and there is a very very important difference. Misunderstand them at your peril sir. For example if I pay £100 for a business and spend £5 in wages and overheads on the first job for which I charge the client £8 then my business has made £3 profit irrespective of the fact that I have £97 less in my pocket than when I started.

You use the terms "clear profit " and "profit on profit" . What an earth do you mean? Profit is profit ---just that.

Are you intending to pay workers on a self employed basis. If so I would be very worried by the fact that you have put into print early in this thread "everything supplied". The revenue apply several tests to determine whether or not someone is employed or self employed the first being whether materials, tools etc are supplied or whether individuals supply their own. There are other criteria including whether individuals are directed how and where to work or whether they make those decisions themselves. If you want to know more I would be happy to advise but I doubt whether (despite your cars and holidays) you could afford my consultancy fees.

The last time I looked at DT's rating (5 minutes ago on Traffords web site) it was still a 1

Milly ----please accept a few words of advice given with no edge or no axe to grind. I do hope your new business venture is a success, but ;--

1 Do you really understand the difference between capital and revenue expenditure? Your business WILL make a profit from day one!! Some quite spectacular bankruptcies have taken place because people have misunderstood the difference between profit and cash flow. or between capital and revenue expenditure.

2 From some of your replies I would strongly advise you to take advice on the difference between employing an individual and giving a self employed person work. The boundary is not as straightforwards as it might seem and can be an extremely costly exercise if it is not applied correctly.

3 On a different note Dee Thai at Hale was given a hygiene rating of 1 out of 5 by Trafford Borough Council a few months ago so I hope you are feeling OK after your meal yersterday.

So---8 houses per hour in pairs. That's £20 in wages and at an average of say £7 per house an income of £56. For 2 teams (you want 4 people) that's doubled to £112 for a £40 outlay by you in wages. Now for a 6 hour day (your figures) that means you are making (gross) 112 minus 40 multiplied by 6 per day = £432 or £ 2160 per week just for owning two window cleaning rounds and doing nothing yourself. . Hmmmm.

Granted you will have some overheads from that (like buckets etc)but if you want to try "wind ups" in the future may I suggest doing a little research and getting the figures right to start with .

By the way some of your replies concerning the law and employment are laughable.

I do hope your out of work relatives enjoy working for you.
