Is this TCP guy the one that used to hang around the Quadrant bus station? I remember him, though never talked to him. Remember him as frequently seen talking to business suited types. The 'suits' always seemed to be listening intently. Always made me smile.
While talking about 'odd' people, does anyone remember Dull Eddie who used to live on Heol Gwyrosydd? He used to verbally abuse everyone/thing including buses. He used to get hurt quite often trying to trip up double deckers. |

I don't know if you've seen it but there is an episode of American Pickers on History channel where they buy stuff off Rick Nielson. Loads of stuff for you to enjoy. It's being repeated at 2pm today.

If the pups are pedigree, look out for two excellent lines. 'Tavey' are very intelligent (Iceberg of Tavey is a legend) and 'Tumlow' (a very big, strong line. If you are after a dog, Tumlow tend to produce strong, square muzzled dogs instead of pointy, more feminine noses). [Post edited 10 Feb 2015 21:13]

I've had 3 over the years. 1 bitch, 2 butch.
Greatest dogs in the world. Intelligent and hugely loyal. Yes they need training, excercise and stimulation but the rewards were brilliant.
The way we chose our second dog (we wanted a thinker not a yapper) was to set the litter down on the floor and watch them. They were very playful but displayed very different characters. Most were bold as brass, one was shaking with fright but the last one sat and looked around. He didn't yap, he didn't cause trouble but still looked confident. He was fabulous right up to the moment he died.
A Doberman killed his owner in Cimla in 1976. The owner kept trying to get him to play in what was a dangerous summer. Sorry for the downer but they are lethal when provoked. You need to respect the breed. |

Hardly irrelevant with viewing figures most sporting fixtures could only dream of, including major football events.
When it comes to hatred, the anger and hate posted on this site every week against other posters, other clubs, other clubs players/management/fans and referees/line officials is a good indication of what is truly pathetic (to use your terminology). |

Very silly post.
The English media have been putting in their excuses for the last month at least. Only yesterday there was a piece on the BBC news website by Tom Fordyce pointing out that the Welsh team has 5 or 6 individuals who were born in England and that Scotland has 3 or 4 individuals from outside Scotland. Absolutely no mention of the 2 Tongans, 1 Figian, 1 Samoan in their team. Not to mention the next article was written by English legend Mike Catt (South African) and that the game will be commented on by another two English legends Dewi Morris and Owen Josh Lewsey (born in Crick and Welsh Parents respectively).
They definitely know its on, and they are very, very worried. |

Some huge brush strokes there. I've no doubt that most football fans regard football as the only sport of the working class, but in all the rugby teams I have played in (and there have been a few in Wales and in England) I have seldom experienced snobbery amongst players and supporters.
The question as to whether you support Wales as an independent country has surely more to do with economics than national pride. At this moment Wales (outside of Cardiff) has so poor infrastructure that to stand alone and recreate itself as an economically feasible country would be nigh on impossible.
This is diverting from the point of the original post though. For me, I identify with all the stereotypes except the ones that many English believe like the Welsh being short, knuckle-dragging, smelly little Taffies with bad teeth Etc etc
Tom Jones, Morriston Orpheus, Dunvant Male Voice, Gareth Bale, Daffodils, Leeks, Dame Shirley, all Welsh People can sing, Huw Edwards, Swansea City, Dylan Thomas, Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins and even Goldie Lookin Chain.
And more important than any of these is the Welsh Rugby team...come on the boys! |

I spent 10 yrs working about 70metres from Leicester Tigers ground on Welford Road in Leicester and learned to thoroughly dislike the upper middle class snobs they have as supporters. |

It's not a condition of being Welsh BJ, far from it. As for "hating" the English, again, far from it. It would be sad indeed to 'hate' (something I can only feel in the most extreme circumstances eg paedophiles) the English. Many years ago, actually after leaving Swansea (not a reason but I prefer to call a coincidence) I developed a sense of perspective. I simply want to get one over my neighbours. I have never rubbed their noses in it when we win as I believe it to be far more dignified to win with 'style'.
I for one will not get so drunk that I start knocking my English (in my opinion, beautiful an fabulous) wife around, but will enjoy a drink and will still enjoy the sight of so many Welsh in one place enjoying themselves.
Oh, and I had some great times at Barons too! |

I think you'd be surprised how many actually do understand the rules. Each year, typically, there will be the odd change, but these changes are quickly understood.
My point is though is not that you have got the right to love or loath the sport, you have every right to make up your own mind. But to state that you want Wales to lose! Even wanting the Swans to win 3 measly points more than beat the English is unbelievable! The Swans have 38 opportunities to win those 3 points every year which mean NOTHING to the English collectively. A Swans victory is little more annoying to the English than being buzzed by a bug in the summer. But beat them at rugby once a year!! Now that means they winge and make excuses for the entire year. The only time I would agree with the entire '3points' thing is if it were the last game of the season and we needed those 3points to stay up.
I've lived in England for nearly 30 years and prefer the English 'bad losers' to the English 'bad winners' any day.
Strangely, the daffodil wearing idiots referred too on here are just seen as people enjoying themselves by the English. That said, this then seems to be your (and a few others on here) problem with not wanting people to enjoy themselves the way they see fit. I now await the odd person saying I'm wrong as they once talked to a guy from Bristol etc etc. |

I'd be interested to know what your idea of "Welshness" is.
Being happy to lose to England at anything seems to be very 'un-Welsh' to me.
Do you struggle with understanding the rules, is that it?

Yes. Wales all the way.
I find it beyond comprehension how people can "hate" a game. In almost every walk of life we play a distant second to everything English. In football terms we are even further behind. For a bunch of opinionated computer athletes I thought you would have jumped at the chance to get on the bandwagon of a sport where we punch far above our weight and frequently humble our far larger, far better financed neighbouring masters. |
