I am pretty certain the real reason that Saints have made this unprecedented early announcement is to satisfy the Receiver and the French League that Bordeaux will remain solvent. Without the 10 million they are going to receive for Mara they would go in to immediate Administration and face further relegation.
I don't think the Creditors would wait another day without a really firm statement of intent from both sides.

Cautiously optimistic.
I think the point that is being missed by most is that due to COVID we had to take an 80 million pound loan to see us through the pandemic. This un-repaid 80 million had to come off the price and really meant that Mr.Gao financed this loan as he lost it in the sale.
By my calculation the true value for 100% of the shareholding is 225 million not 100 million as is being suggested by the Press.

I respect your report on the Arsenal game Nick and as always you make some good points.
However this constant criticism of Jack Stephens is becoming really tiresome and undermines the undoubted knowledge you have of the game and Saints.
To suggest that Jack was culpable for the second goal is incredible when he had been put in an impossible position by that crazy back pass from PEH. The easy thing was to just let Aubameang score but he did what a good pro would do and it cost him a Red Card ! and a shed load of criticism from you.
Anyway we will be able to see how well our defence performs in the next 3 games now without your arch villain and if your judgement is correct we will do so well that Jack will not be required again this season.

Very good article Nick. Was it just a coincidence that Danny Rohl suddenly upped and left very soon after the revelation of Ralph's huge salary ? Wonder whether he was aware of it previously, if he wasn't I am sure he would have been pretty upset. I am sure Danny was back for the first couple of weeks of pre-season. Also I seem to remember that Ralph talked of the Coaching Staff needing to be overhauled at the end of last season. Not seen much evidence of this yet except for new goalkeeping coach.

I totally agree with the article. Kelvin has had so many chances and as far as I am concerned is a loser ! OK we won the JPT but as I remember he didn't play in any of the rounds except the final where he still spilt the first shot he had.
I am sure Nigel Adkins is well aware of the situation. Lets hope if Bart plays in the Man U game he does well and is kept in for the rest of the season. I think then we may have a realistic chance of automatic promotion. I fear with Kelvin it will all end in tears. Not sure where Merrington is coming from on this one he normally speaks a bit of sense ! I wonder whether he would feel the same if he was his manager not just a good friend

Adkins First Job

I agree the first thing that Nigel Adkins has to do is to drop Kelvin Davis. He just has to look at Bart's average goals conceded per game whenever he has had a chance. It is well below Kelvins and if converted into a season would be almost 12.
Where Dave Merrington gets his statement that Kelvin is worth 10 goals a season from is beyond me. Perhaps he has got it the wrong way round ?
