BEECH and EYRE
at 20:16 25 Jan 2012

Well if in 6 months time the club have not progressed then yes Coleman will be accountable, the difference being he instills much more confidence than Errr!

......To be fair who cares - onwards and upwards

BEECH and EYRE
at 13:01 25 Jan 2012

Seriously, why does anybody give a shit what Steve Eyre has to say about the appointment of our new manager? if it hadn’t been for him, John Coleman would not have been required….but saying that aloud, makes my kind of glad he did ultimately fail.
I listened to the interview, and its apparent SE wishes to blame others for the demise of our club when everybody with any common sense realises he is most accountable. I accept he took the job is difficult circumstances with established quality players leaving, but he did have pre-season and 6 months to turn things around.
He does come across very well on the radio however, and I can see why he wanted to ‘Eyre’ (sorry couldn’t resist) a response to Beech’s remarks regarding the previous regime, but I don’t want his opinion, he’s clearly a better PR man than football manager.
As for Beech, he did refer to the past too often, although I’m inclined to think this was him highlighting the enormity of the task whilst trying to acquire the job permanently opposed to slagging off SE and FB…..of course I may be wrong and he might think they’re useless numpty’s, as do I for what its worth.
Anyway, it’s all history now, John Coleman has a huge task and one that starts with immediate effect in bringing in much needed players at the earliest opportunity if we are indeed to survive the drop.

Very Interesting read that!! The fact that Steve Eyre’s name is mentioned leads me more to actually believe he and his little ex city cronies (no names…but it’s fairly obvious) may well have witch hunts and be posting messages on forums, or at least leaking team news / information to third parties to do so.
I’m only speculating but seems there’s no smoke without fire!
By the way, I love the content of his initial text message, sounds like a top manager to me and after watching them pummel us, can confirm they are indeed, strong and very physical.
Mr Coleman needs to sniff out the rat(s) within the camp and banish them because to me it’s one of the biggest breaches of trust a player can commit. Big scouse John should sought them out!

Eyre on GMR talking about Coleman
at 22:36 23 Jan 2012

is that Steve 'Daleyounggun' Eyre you refer? haha - Seems a little strange to interview somebody about another manager who is only required because you failed so badly? To be fair the SE whingers had dispursed a little latley due to CB's poor results, this has just reminded them of his poor stint at the club....still looking FORWARD Colemans now the man, lets have it!

Coleman is official
at 16:17 23 Jan 2012

If true then I wish Coleman & Bell all the very best, but this does not for a single moment reduce the likely prospect of relegation without first significant investment strengthening the squad. My fear is that as Dale are a small fish in league 1, and given we are still remunerating Mr Eyre and Bunn, permitting a reportedly £70-100k compensation package to Accy Stan, plus salaries for the respective management, how will funds for players possibly be available?
CB and RK have realistically done OK with the squad inherited, although admittedly 3 points in 6 games only continues relegation form, but the issue here is the players! They need to grow some and earn the overpaid wage they levy for one of the most privileged jobs in the world.
WE must be the only club who spend more on managers than we do on players.
That said, welcome Coleman (unproven at league 1 level) I hope the so called fans give you longer than SE/FB and caretaker CB/RK.
Onwards and upwards — up the dale, currently downing much more ale then the norm!

Bored....of the Board
at 22:46 19 Jan 2012

Bored of the board

I’m afraid I’ve succumbed to the fact that the club has been in disarray since the day we appointed an unknown coach with a wealthy father, which possibly had a lot to do with his appointment.
Regardless, since SE was shown the door the club have failed to elucidate which direction they wish for the club to go. CB has been appointed on a caretaker basis, but with the authority to hire and fire players?. Bizarre if only on a caretaker basis!
Furthermore, since CD made reference that its CB’s job to lose there has been nothing but speculation over the next permanent manager, understandable if we only have a caretaker in charge.
Please board, make a decision in the interests of the club, appoint a manager on a 2/3 year deal and restore some stability to the club. As minnows we are never going to be anything more than perhaps a top half league 2 team, and most honest dale fans acknowledges this, so either give Beech formal backing, or appoint an alternative man, but please not Coleman. 10 years at Accy, in which I respect greatly, but it makes you think that if he were such an accomplished manager another club would have surely taken him on by now?
I wouldn’t imagine it would take too much wonger to leer him away, although if reports are to be believed, it takes more than we are willing to offer!

Anyway, 3 points Saturday will help matters greatly....Thanks

You illiterate bitter prick.
Cleary you are some kind of reject Youth player or failed footballer with nothing better to do than to write garbage about other people, I actually feel sorry for you…….and your English teacher.
Irrelevant of your personal views of CB, results on the pitch are what matter. His results haven’t been great, 2 decent away draws, a point against Preston and then two very poor displays against Hartlepool and Stevenage respectively.
Perhaps the players don’t like being made to train harder, being dropped because the results over the last 6 months have been shambolic, or even being told what to do!......but so what if results start to improve, personally I’m not bothered.
I’m not saying CB is the answer, I guess time will tell, but if you’re a fan of Dale you will grow up and stop posting pathetic, and boring, comments on the forum.
Now go practice your grammar, pick a few spots and stop spouting lies you little nob

I appreciate this thread is a wind up and does not really warrant a reply, but in some respects kind of agree that clarity is needed regarding the manager’s position.
Becoming ever increasingly frustrated I’ve just posted in the New Signings thread:

I’m unsure as to whether there will be any until a formal position is affirmed by the board regarding the management. What player will sign a permanent deal with a Caretaker manager?
I’m informed that Dale never actually approached Barnsley, as per the BFC statement suggests, and although I like the idea of Flicker returning, I know it’s not happening.
If these speculative reports / rumours continue to circle in and around Sky, twitter and alike it only places indecision in players mind if pondering a move to our club.
I’m becoming increasingly frustrated now.....name a manager and let’s move on! I personally have seen enough in Beech to be content with his appointment, but should that not be the man then let’s hurry and appoint somebody else.

Rant over!

Bore off! - Yes the idea is great, but very unrealistic. I would assume we are still paying Eyre and Bunn?. This is not going to happen as no well-respected manager will take the job on given our precarious position without a long term deal on the table, and a substantial salary to match.
Let’s stop speculating and start supporting!

The problem of scoring
at 14:26 9 Jan 2012

I agree, defensively we have coped ok of late, including defending well 1st half at Walsall and Hartlepool respectively. This is positive only if we can go and score goals at the opposite end of the pitch. We created very little on Saturday, but the previous 2 games chances were there. Like it’s been said, Bog and Brett should address the lack of goals if quality service is provided. I predict 4 points from the next 2 games, which will hopefully change the view of all the pessimists and be the base from which to fight out of the bottom four come April.

This is a fair point as do I not recall 2 weeks ago 'Sky Sports understands Chris Beech has been given the first team managers position until the end of the season'?

All this specultaion could be ended with a simple statement from the club clarifying the position.

This decision is ridiculous, the football worlds gone mad. I personally dislike the man, but based on what he has achieved at QPR find the news astonishing! What does the chairman expect, fighting for Europe?

I think we all need a Reality Check!
at 19:28 8 Jan 2012

I felt the need to start a new thread highlighting a few points regarding our current predicament.
Firstly, we all know that 3 weeks ago we were a certainty for relegation under Errrs authority. The Chairman has made the correct decision in ending Steve’s reign and promoted from within by handing the reigns to Beech. This was a positive response and we’ve all seen a difference in attitude not only on the pitch, but also around the ground and between the majority of supporters.
The first 2 games went much better than we had become accustomed since summer, and the Preston game was allegedly the performance of the season (admittedly I missed it!) I did go to the Hartlepool game and with recent hype, found it an anti-climax, but in reality there will be better teams than us go up there and get turned over.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but the changes implemented in Beechy’s short tenure have been significant enough for me to instil confidence and I’m of the opinion he ought to be appointed until at least the end of the season. He’s clearly a driven individual who has a desire to succeed.
Furthermore, The Chairman needs to end all this speculation about who the next man will be, as we all know hand on heart, Flicker isn’t leaving Barnsley, and who’d blame him. Do you really expect him to accept a paycut then take a job that frankly is about as appealing as stapling your eyelids to the table?
I feel the club should release a statement and explain the position with our manager; it must be difficult not only for Beechy but also the lads, as not knowing what the future holds surely affects performances? If the board are considering bringing in an established manager, then relay this information so all parties know where they stand and can crack on!
Other names mentioned like Brown, Reid and endless other old school managers will not take the club forward, plus they would demand huge salaries. We are always to be a minnow of league 1 with our budget, gates and limited fan base, so let’s not expect pure quality week in week out, lets support the boys, get behind Beech & Kidd and be happy we are financially sound and still in with a slim chance of surviving in this very competitive league.
4 points from the next 2 games could change our position dramatically! Come on Dale, if we go down, we go down fighting!
