Abramovich
at 10:33 29 May 2018

Found this on a Cypriot site. I have no idea if its accurate.

According to a number of reports, Roman Abramovich has already been granted Israeli citizenship. On the basis of his Jewish heritage and, presumably, his existing substantial investment/property ownership in Israel reportedly having also bought an hotel there which he was/is converting to a residence.

An Israeli passport will give him visa-free travel to the UK for 'limited periods of stay on each entry'. So he can now continue to visit his football club whenever he wishes.

I can only view it as yet another 'nationalisation of convenience' move - so common these days. As a Russian Jew, he never seems to have sought Israeli nationality at any other stage in his life.

QPR boss blames failed transfer deals
25 Feb 2014 10:00

Redknapp rues missing out on top January targets

Too expensive: QPR pulled the plug on a deal for Inter Milan striker Ishak Belfodil

Harry Redknapp reckons two that got away in the transfer window have cost QPR dear.

Rangers are winless in the last four with stories circulating Michael Laudrup is waiting in the wings to take the 66-year-old manager’s job, although Redknapp remains confident his position isn't under threat.

The outlay that includes £8milllion for crocked Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips along with the club’s ambitions for an instant return to the Premier League would be a poor return if they were marooned in the Championship for another season.

Rangers mustered not a single shot on target during the 1-0 defeat to Charlton on Saturday, with Redknapp insisting all strikers signed before the deadline were a ‘gamble.’

The club was hoping to land Serie A hotshot Ishak Belfodil and Auxerre star Paul-Georges Ntep.

Neither deal happened demanding last-minute wheeler dealing for Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Will Keane (Manchester United) and Modibo Maiga (West Ham) that has produced just three goals in four games from the trio.

At the double: Doyle has scored twice in four games

“Everything we did in the transfer window was a gamble," said Redknapp.

"We thought we had the boy from Milan coming and the left-winger from Auxerre who looked like a world-beater — and suddenly they don’t come, and then you're left scrambling about.”

"F1 and the English league are phenomenally successful sports watched around the world. That’s a huge captive market. Having AirAsia and Tune Hotels beamed straight into people’s homes is more powerful than putting out a print ad.”
“Sport helps to put the Tune out there. Branding impacts the bottom line, even if you can’t measure it. The aura of our brand has attracted a lot of partnerships and sports is a large part of that aura.” - QPR Chairman, Tony Fernandes on owning QPR and Caterham

Statement from NW
at 19:12 8 Jan 2012

"Obviously I'm very disappointed, but having achieved so much, I leave the club with a great sense of pride.

"I have enjoyed my time here more than anywhere else and the QPR fans have been brilliant with me - they deserve success.

"My biggest regret is that the takeover didn't happen earlier, because that would have given me the opportunity to bring in the targets I'd pinpointed all last summer and probably given us a better chance to succeed in the Premier League."

He added: "The board at QPR are hugely ambitious and I wish them every success for the future.

"I've been involved in the game a long time and I will be spending the immediate future with my family and friends before deciding my next career move."
