Striker Scheme Re Launched

Home >Story Index> Striker Scheme Re-Launched

With a new era underway here at the Vetch, it's time for everyone to ask themselves what they can do to help Swansea City Football Club. There's been a lot of talk about the possibility of the Club launching a weekly draw to raise finances to benefit the Club - The reality is that there is already a long standing lottery scheme that is among the largest weekly draws in South Wales, and that is the Striker scheme.

For just £1.00 per week, the Striker scheme offers you two chances to win, via a weekly cash prize, plus, as part of a syndicate, you are entered into the National Lottery draw. A new look Promotions Team is now in place at the Vetch, and at the head is Chris Johnson:

" We're all aware that we've been through some difficult times at the Club in recent months, and Striker is a scheme that has been hit hard", said Johnson.

"However, we now have to look forward, and work together for the benefit of Swansea City FC, and Striker is a way of doing so. The monies that we raise goes directly into the Youth Development System, helping to produce the Swans stars of tomorrow."

Recently appointed Director David Morgan has urged supporters to do their bit:

" The last four months will go down in history as a very dark time for Swansea City FC. Under the circumstances at the time, I can fully understand that many people who paid into the Striker scheme felt that they had to cancel their membership.

" Now though, we are moving forward at the Vetch, and are all witnessing a new, more open set-up at the Club. I can assure all of you, that Striker funds will be used for the benefit of Swansea City FC, and I urge those supporters who cancelled, to reinstate their subscriptions. Those who have never subscribed, I ask you to get fully behind the scheme, and show your support for the Club."

Swansea SoundBreakfast DJ, and local celebrity Kevin Johns has agreed to take up the role of Patron for the Striker scheme, overlooking the whole operation, at the request of the Club:

" Everyone knows how passionate I am about the Swans, and like all supporters, I have not enjoyed the last few months. But, as supporters, we have come through it stronger, and are now in a position where we can all work together, to take the Club forward.

" I'm delighted to receive the offer to become Patron of the Striker scheme, as it strengthens my links with the Club. It's a great scheme, that helps bring through the best young talent, and it's one that I have 100% faith in."
