Planning On The Trip To Holland?

Home >Story Index> Help Save Childrens Hospital Services

There is no official travel from Swansea City AFC. This route, with The Midlands Avon & Gloucester Swans is worth considering, and you don't have to be a member. You can book it yourself with your credit card by visiting http://www.Ebookers.com Their simple booking procedure should enable you to get on the same flight. Expect to pay around GBP 85.00 all in with taxes, booking fee's etc ... Remember to make sure your times are the same if you want to team up with the Jack Army from England - or telephone - The MAGS on 07713 083479 and get some assistance, after all we are all in this together. After you have booked your flights you can visit http://www.denhaag.com and book your accommodation. There is no set timetable, it's just a case of turning up, travelling with like minded football fans, and enjoying the tour. Doing your own thing has to be the most relaxing way of enjoying this trip. The MAGS philosophy has always been - No stress, let the beer take the strain ! On arrival at Amsterdam we will meet up with other Swans fans on another flight from Cardiff and head towards The Hague by train, this takes about 45 minutes and costs about GBP 10.00 return. On the Monday evening there is a an optional train trip with the lads and lasses to Amsterdam, and Jimbo " The Gloucester Jack " offers an alternative view of the City starting at the infamous Banana Club !
Details : Depart Birmingham 3 PM Saturday July 20th 2002 : Arrive Amsterdam 5.10 PM
( time difference accounted for ) Flight Ref : KL 2048. KLM Airlines.
Leave Amsterdam 4.45 PM Wednesday July 24th 2002 : Arrive Birmingham 4.55 PM
Flight Ref : KL 2049. KLM Airlines.
With this tour you get to see the games against FCKortrijk ( Sunday ) and FC Den Haag ( Tuesday ) Both being played in The Hague. And most importantly you get no hassle having to make early flights to or from Holland. So the hangovers can be slowly matured for the afternoon flight home.
Many of you are aware that Swansea City have excellent links with the supporters of Den Haag in Holland and indeed supporters of Kortrijk in Belgium. Both clubs fans travel to see The Swans play frequently - So what a great four days and nights away it will be, and hopefully put in to context what a universal language football is. And beer of course !
It may not suit everyone, but isn't it nice to have the option ?
Happy Summer holidays Jacks .........
Get organised !
If you would like to call the above number you are more than welcome to do so regards the Holland tour, and next season if you wish to join The Midlands Avon & Gloucester Swans you can e mail - the-voice@the-mags.fsnet.co.uk or write to RY Media, PO Box 19, Gloucester, GL3 4YA. Please send an SAE. It would be great to see other areas of the country organising themselves for travel and social gatherings - Why don't you do it ? The MAGS have their own football team who play in Gloucestershire against sides in the Gloucestershire floodlit league, great friendships have been forged over the years, and are coordinated by Keith Haynes who works with Phil Sumbler on this site and in many areas of football writing.
Their joint titles are : Vetch Field Voices ( Tempus 2000 )
Another Day At The Office ( Roger Freestone biography - Tempus 2001 )
This year they will release two books, the first in October / November 2002 titled 100 Swansea Greats and shortly after this their first hardback book titled - The Tony Ford Story. The true story of a black footballer who was awarded the MBE for his services to football in 2000 after making over 1000 appearances in the football league for Grimsby Town, Stoke City, WBA, Sunderland, Scunthorpe United, Mansfield and Rochdale. His last football league goal ironically was against Swansea City at The Vetch Field in 2001. He is currently Assistant Manager to Steve Parkin at Barnsley FC. Both of this years new releases are on Tempus Publishing. Keith also wrote and edited Come on Cymru ! and Come on Cymru 2000 ! Individual pieces of football writing from Wales and the s ( Sigma books ) which are available from the above PO Box for GBP 5.00 ( for both books ) And this includes P&P.
