No More Saints Excuses Say The Daily Echo

The Daily Echo have told the players to get on with it.

A hard hitting Daily Echo Sports editorial has told the players and management of Saints to stop making excuses and get on with it.

In truth they are right to do so,

The headline reads.

"Boardroom battles and outside pressures are nothing compared to results on the pitch - that's why players are paid so well. They must keep their minds on the job in hand and have no one but themselves to blame when things go wrong"

It goes on to say

"THE time has come to end the excuse culture which is in danger of totally sinking any hopes Saints have of a top-six finish."

Spot on from the Echo, of course the players will read about the boardroom battles but in truth they have their contracts and will be paid no matter what, in fact they are the only club employees who are safe, what about those that face redundancy if the club does not re finance, they are the ones that have the right to be worried, they have families and mortgages but do they deliver a substandard days work to the Club, NO !

If the person in the ticket office is rude to you when buying your ticket would you accept them saying to you that " all the boardroom battles are affecting my performance with the public"

No you wouldnt, yet these are people whose lively hoods are effected and none of them have agents touting them round to the ticket offices of other Championship clubs.

Indeed in this areas we have seen a few big companies shed staff, not least BAT, was performance affected, no the staff still gave an honest days pay for an honest days work.

Its time for the players to stand up and be counted and of course George Burley, at Sheffield Wednesday it was clear that the team wasnt performing for the manager, lets not dress this up any other way, of course players have to say the right things, but lets see them win a few games and then and only then do they have the right to speak up.

We know this squad is good enough to be promoted, what we have seen is a disorganised shambles, they would do well to remember the old adage.

"Success needs no excuses, failure needs many"
