From A Swansea Perspective |
At half time Saturday, I kicked off the shoes, put my feet up and lit a huge cigar in celebration of another three points at Huddersfield. Little did I know that the big button marked "self destruct" would be pushed at that point seeing us snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and a suspension for our leading scorer to boot. Happy New Year? It possibly could be.
Trundle is suspended for sure for this game which means that we have got clearance from air traffic control to start with Bayo and Rory up front. Robbo may or may not be well enough to reclaim his place in the starting line ups whilst anything other than Leon Britton on the right wing will set off another new series of rumours.
Brentford welcome back young forward Charlie Ide for the match at Swansea after he completed his one-match ban.
Nathan Abbey is likely to continue in goal with Clark Masters (knee) still out, while forward Lloyd Owusu (groin) is also missing from the squad.
Brentford have managed one win in the last four months and that was on Saturday which means they come in on the back of a one game winning streak. We couldn't be more opposite at the moment as we are on a one game losing streak.
Having said that we have played some decent football of late and are unbeaten in 7 league games at the Liberty which surely must bode well for a decent start to 2007
Brentford remain bottom of the division
Unsurprisingly I guess based on league positions the Swans are 2/5 to record another home win tomorrow with Brentford available to back at a whopping 6/1. The draw is in there at 3/1
The bookies will have this one wrong with Mr Trundle in at 3/1 for first goal. Indeed, it is somewhat of a Swansea monopoly here with Fallon (4/1) Bayo and Robbo (9/2) Craney (11/2) and Chris Jones (13/2) all available at shorter odds than Chris Moore at 9/1 who is the shortest odds Brentford player. The 20/1 on Dennis Lawrence just screams "value" on this one
You think this is mad but have a pop at Dennis Lawrence to score first in a 5-0 win (a repeat of the Carlisle game) and Mr Bet 365 will be paying you out 550 times your stake if it happens.
Just 61 predictions to date at the time of writing but there is mass optimism with 55 predicting home win and 3 a draw.
A few rethinks are needed though as Lee Trundle tops the scorer predictions with 1, ahead of Fallon (13) and Bayo (10) 3-0 is the favourite scoreline to date with 15 predictions

I don't know why I bother predicting, I think it is something like 5 from 26 at the moment - it may not even be that good. There is no way on this earth that we will do anything other than win tomorrow. No way at all. Unless of course we don#'t. But we will. Happy New Year everyone |
