Bussy was part of the Spanish Under 20 World Cup Final side that lost to Brazil in 2001 and he was paired up front at the time with the man that is now top of the European finalist's shopping list.

But thankfully this is not an ego that is out of control - Bussy is referring to his prowess on the Playstation rather than the football pitch but it all bodes well for the Swans that their man has such a good pedigree - Barcelona's Champions League-winning playmaker Andres Iniesta and Valencia's highly-rated midfielder Jamie Gavilan, a target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger were also in the same side that competed in that World final.

"We played up-front for the Spanish youth team for four or five years and got on great, so much so we were room-mates." Bussy told the Wales on Sunday regards Torres

"We'd not only play up-front together, we'd watch TV together, listen to music together and played Playstation together.

"We'd always play Pro Evolution Soccer and I'd beat him a lot - but because I'm a good friend, I'd let him win sometimes!

"He is a wonderfully gifted player and from our first training session together I knew Fernando was a special talent.

"He's not just a fantastic goal scorer but great athlete and top man. He'd fit into British football no problem and be a big hit because he is like an old-fashioned British striker.

"I'd like to follow him into the Premiership because that is a top league and I want to be among the best. I joined Swansea because of their burning ambition to be better and I'm desperate to succeed for my new club and for myself."

And what of the man who is likely to feature on occasions alongside him?

"I've seen videos of Lee Trundle on You Tube," said Bauza. "He is a fans favourite at Swansea and I can see why. He has some fantastic skills. But I have to admit, I hadn't heard of him until a few days ago."

And alongside Angel Rangel, Jason Scotland, Dennis Lawrence and possible Dorus De Vries there will be a distinct continental flavour at the Liberty Stadium this season with possibly even more from abroad to follow.

"It is dangerous to have too many foreigners but you need the right mixture." said manager Roberto Martinez

"If you only have British-based players then you miss out on certain things.

"Foreign players are developed differently so they tend to be more skilful and see the game differently. The foreign imports have helped changed the face of English football as their professionalism, off-the-field conduct and healthy lifestyle have rubbed off on British players; and we need the right culture at Swansea.

"On the other hand, you can't have a team full of foreigners as teams need some British grit, physical prowess and experience.

"But you can't analyse a squad by the nationality of its players, you should analyse by the character of its players. I just want good footballers at Swansea, regardless of where they're from. I don't make the decisions, football ability and attitude makes all of my decisions for me."

Just don't expect anyone to challenge Bussy to a Playstation knockout just yet!
