Llanelli Boss Against League Proposal Tuesday, 1st Jul 2008 07:59 Peter Nicholas says he would be against a proposal to allow Swans & Cardiff into the League of Wales Nicholas was speaking as he waited to find out his own team’s fate in the draw for the first qualifying stages of the Champions League. He was reacting to stories again that the FAW were considering the proposal that would open the door for both Swansea City and Cardiff City to have a route back into Europe. Nicholas believes that any such proposal would be unfair on those who had been in the league for a long time and he is also concerned that it won’t necessarily be reserve teams that are fielded – especially at the business end of the season. Nicholas told the Western Mail “We understand some people want them to play in Europe and push the profile of Wales “It would take away from the teams who have been in the Welsh Premier for years. The ambition for these clubs is to get into Europe and it would be very harsh on them to see Cardiff and Swansea come in and take their places. “People say Cardiff and Swansea would put out reserve teams, but will they when they know they can get into Europe?” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
