Roy Hodgson admits his side was forced to really dig in to get a draw at Swansea

He told the after match press conference “I thought it was a jaded performance from us and a good performance from them.

“But I’m not angry at the performance because, although we can play better than that, Swansea are a good side and you have to give them credit. They made life difficult for us and they fully deserved their draw.

“I’m pleased because when things aren’t going your way it’s important you stay defensively organised and dig in to give you that chance of winning the game.

“Mark Schwarzer made some brilliant saves and I thought we could have done better in counter-attacking situations.

“But Swansea were a threat throughout and they were a very good test for us.

“It was important we dug in and I was pleased with the way we did that. Hopefully in the replay we can show Swansea a little bit more of the form we have been showing this season.

“You can certainly see why they are in the fifth round of the FA Cup and on the verge of the play-offs because they have some good players and play very good football.”
