TOM YOUNG: Blue is the colour: Pompey is the name.... Friday, 19th Apr 2013 08:55 by Tom Young For some, the colour blue just runs in their veins. That's the case for thousands of Pompey fans and their devotion and determination could've just imprinted the colour blue on football for years to come.
100%, No more, no less. If as expected, the PST take over the club on Friday, we will be the biggest community owned club in Britain. I personally am incredibly proud of that. I was brought up with many people around me saying "support the club you love, you're near and the club you would generally just feel lost without". That was the case when we were on the verge of defeat in our recent prolonged saga. Community ownership gives those who need their clubs, the power to hold on to them. To make sure that the club they love, is cherished accordingly. Despite this though, community ownership hasn't convinced the majority outside of Portsmouth. Many "fans" from down the road have uttered things like "no ambition", "flat-lining progress" and "you're not going anywhere". This smacks of desperation to keep hold of the so-called "sugar daddies". Those same people are the ones who are ruining and will ruin football. Football has become plastic, materialistic and a corporate way of conning out thousands of innocent individuals. That's not the way I love football. Tuesdays fundraiser brought a tear to my eye. Football clubs are so often cut adrift from their fans in our modern era that they are basically two completely separate entities. Not Portsmouth Football Club, not OUR Portsmouth Football Club. When the likes of Hreidarsson, Primus and Whittingham entered the fray, the atmosphere changed. Suddenly, players were interacting with the fans as if they were mates and smiles spread across our beloved blue church. That's why I know community ownership will work. That's why I know our next era will be our greatest, footballs greatest. We are blue, the colour is blue and we are the blueprint for footballs upheaval.
