Saints opening game fixture against Watford looks like being a sell out very soon with less than 900 tickets left.

St Mary's looks set for a full house on opening day when Watford are the visitors, usually fixtures in August are not as well attended as those later in the season with people on holiday etc, but Saints first home game on the opening day since they returned to the Premier League in 2012 is set to balk that trend.

With 11 days to go before the game a look at the on line ticketing system shows that there are only around 800-900 tickets still not sold with most of those being in the Itchen/Kingsland corner and the Chapel End.

In those parts of the ground there are still plenty of empty seats together whereas in the Kingsland and the Northam there are very limited seats available.

Watford too are set to bring a full allocation of fans with their official website reporting that of their approximate allocation of 3,300 only a handful remain.

A full house at St Mary's on the opening day is always pleasing to see and it will be a sea of colour for what is a repeat of the 2013 FA Cup Semi Final at Villa Park, both clubs have had their ups and downs since then and a lot of water under the bridge, Saints will be looking to get straight back to winning ways in this game with a repeat of last season's ame back in January when a 2-0 win ended a terrible run for Saints and kicked off a run of not only wins but clean sheets.

ericofarabia added 14:51 - Aug 2 How can this be .... aren't our 1st few games of the season poorly attended, especially against uninspiring teams such as Watford? Aren't people going on holiday this year, or washing their hair or going to uncles and aunties parties / funerals? Plus the club still being in the grip of #Meltdown #3 .... how odd.
