Austin Gets Three Match Ban !
Monday, 25th Dec 2017 11:46

Charlie Austin has been hit by a three match ban for his challenge on Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl on Saturday.

Austin will now miss the games at Spurs and Manchester United as well as the home fixture against Crystal Palace, although ironically he would probably have missed these games anyway after picking up a hamstring injury in the late stages of the draw at St Mary's.

"Charlie Austin will be suspended for Southampton's next three matches after he was charged with violent conduct. He accepted the charge but argued the suspension was excessive. This was rejected by an Independent Regulatory Commission," the FA said.

Sorry Charlie - no real defence - but I can see the likes of Andy Carroll getting their cumupants more often. Austin shows the type of aggression that only the "old-fashion" CF's still have, but times change and the idea of retrospective punishments must be a good idea in the long run. Let's hope we have learned our lesson now.

Saints fans ( of old ) would be glad there weren't cameras back in George Kirby's day..
..." loveable George" would have been sent off every week.

Just a shame it is not applied equally to the big teams players, then again match officials apply different rules to them too.

A well deserved punishment in my opinion. He should have known better and has let the club down at a time when we really need his ability to get goals. Disgraceful.
