New Years Eve transfer news latest at Swansea City Friday, 31st Dec 2021 08:41 by Keith Haynes It’s the last day of the year as the football season is again stuttering after nearly two years of uncertainty. The swans have had numerous games called off and the last time they played was on December 11th. Who would have thought then the next game would be on January 8th, and that’s only a possibility. This leaves us at the end of a successful year for the website which has doubled in views and posters over the last 364 days. It’s testament to the hard work that has been put in by all our staff writers here at Swansea Independent. And on a few occasions in the face of uncalled for anonymous criticism. As we have already said if people are commenting on us as a football writing business then we must be doing something right. So thanks for a refreshing year of football reporting and chat, and of course for all of your support. It has once again been humbling. Let’s look back on the week. It stated off with a comprehensive supplement on Russell Martin. And then our exclusive that Morgan Whittaker was on his way on loan to League one. Liam Cullen was next, and with his career at a crossroads we hope he makes the right choice to go out on loan. Jordon Garrick was next, his successful loan spell at Plymouth has not gone unnoticed. With news of a new striker possibly coming in to SA1 we reported this exclusive. Jay Fulton is on his way out and again in a Swansea Independent exclusive we managed to secure the latest information on him leaving the swans. On Wednesday Russell Martin met with all of his players that were told two months ago they were leaving the club or not in his plans. We reported an break down of those players and clubs interested. Then yesterday the response from Leeds United fans on Sam Greenwood possibly being of interest to the swans was met with a lot of distain. That’s just a week in view of our club Swansea City, we aim to continue to bring you as many well researched articles and information on the swans, especially in January. Remember it’s not about being first, but we do that pretty well too, it’s about being informative and putting meat on the bones ( sorry Russell ) We all believe here we add real context and insight to our daily Swansea reports. It’s easy to repeat basic information and call it a story. We think we go much deeper answering all the questions you probably have when you read an extensive news report. We are always available to speak to, you are welcome to email swansea.independent1@gmail.com at any time, we are always happy to support young writers with their continuing professional development, so you are always welcome to get in touch. Until next year, that just leaves me as the owner and editor of Swansea Independent to wish you all a very happy new year. Stay safe, and please, look after your own and those closest to you. Trust me, nothing should be taken for granted during these times, keep your loved ones close and enjoy every minute of their time with you.
