![]() Tuesday, 10th Mar 2009 10:04 Nigel Clough has moved to ease the Rams' mounting injury problems by bringing in Watford midfielder John Eustace on loan until the end of the season.
With the Rams' injury list getting longer week by week and the business end of the season fast approaching, Nigel Clough has brought John Eustace in from Watford until the end of the season. Eustace, who numbers Coventry and Stoke among his former clubs with loan spells at Dundee Utd and Middlesbrough, has Premier League experience and at 29 years old, is a good age. He's made 17 appearances for Watford this season but found himself on the sidelines when Brendan Rodgers took over as manager. He has been brought in to add "experience and pedigree" to the Rams' injury ravagedsquad and will go straight into the team at Southampton tonight. Speaking of his move to Pride Park, Eustace says, “The new manager came in and had his opinion on things. That’s football and you just get on with it and hope somebody else wants to take you. "I have not been playing at Watford and I want to play first-team football. Luckily, Derby have come in for me. “I found out about Derby’s interest on Saturday and I just hoped it would happen. It has and I am really excited to be here. Nigel Clough has started to turn things round and it seems an exciting place to be. “There has been no talk of anything further than the end of the season but it’s up to me to prove my worth here and, hopefully, I can do that.Hopefully I can earn a longer stay.” Nigel Clough says of his new acquisition, "I'm delighted to have got another body into the club and to have got someone with John's experience and pedigree is an added bonus". "He knows his way around this division and will be ready for action immediately if selected. "It's no secret that we have lost a number of key players to injury and this has left us particularly short in the midfield area. "We will need to show the kind of spirit and resilience that we did on Saturday against Bristol City in all our games from now until the end of the season to ensure we continue our decent form." Eustace will take the number 30 shirt.
