Chief Executive Steve Bradshaw has revealed that a minimum finish of sixth is required this season for the club to have attained a successful season.

The U's finished 12th in their first season back in the third tier of English football, but speaking to the East Anglian Times, Bradshaw said,

“We will have one of the biggest squads in the division, to match the chairman's (Robbie Cowling's) ambition. Finishing in sixth spot (last play-off spot) would be the minimum for success next season."

Bradshaw confirmed that will more arrivals on the horizon, there may be further depatures before the season starts.

“It is likely that one or two players will leave before the start of the season, because it's difficult to keep everyone happy with a squad bigger than 24 or 25.

“People tend to get very down if they are not in the team, or the 16-man squad. It can have an adverse effect of their careers, to spend a year in the reserves."

The U's have already completed the signings of Lee Beevers, David Fox and Marcus Okuonghae, and negotiations for a striker are ongoing.
