Hard to believe but it was exactly a year ago this morning that the takeover of Southampton Football Club by Markus Liebherr happened, so perhaps we are unique in that we,  it could be said are able to celebrate our first birthday in the same year we commemorate our 125th.

This will of course be a crucial season for Saints, last term was the most enjoyable for many a year and supporters were willing to accept that promotion might just be a step too far in so short a time and sit back and enjoy the ride.

However this year will be different, from a factual point of view, last season saw our lowest League position in 50 years as we returned to the third tier of English football for the first time in the majority of supporters lifetimes, the joyride is now over and its serious business, put bluntly we have to get promoted.

However like many celebrating a birthday we have been able to go shopping with our wallets full and buy what we want, the two signings so far look good and if a little more is spent in a wise way, then im sure that this will be a season that will be remembered for a long time to come, perhaps even on the 150th anniversary.
