Just been going through today's papers and reading about how the Wembley game is worth an estimated £130 million to the winners; so given that our accounts aren't exactly Rosie, what happened to that money or is it all nonsense? |  | | |  |

Something to do with TV money. It also had something to do with where we finished, which is a lot less when you are bottom. It's more like £90m.
Problem is we have a massive wage bill which, if we are sensible, is about to be slashed to the core and if we have any sense there will be a wage cap brought in.
Right now we have...
A player on £70K a week is on £3,640,000 a year. We have several of those. = about £7,280,000
A player on £60K a week is on £3,120,000 a year. We have about four of those. = about £12,480,000
A player on £50K a week is on £2,600,000 a year. We have about four of those. = about £10,400,000
A player on £40K a week is on £2,080,000 a year. We have about five of those. = about £10,400,00
So you are looking at about £41m+ a year on just 15 of the first team. That's not taking on board the other ten in the squad. So about another £15m on top of that.
The squad is costing north of £56m+ in wages! £56m and we will probably finish bottom.
Then transfer and agent fees at the start of this season, about another £25m and you are already up to £78m before you pay for running the actual club, the staff, the academy and all the players and staff there.
We should break even but we didn't even come close to that.
Next season senior player wage cap has to be about £20K a week for the senior players. That's still a million a year. But then you have a squad where perhaps there are 15 senior players, so £15m+ a year.
U21s playing in the first team should be on £4,000 max a week, just over £200K a year, still pretty decent for a kid. 20 of those is just over £5m
Other kids coming through should be on a lot less. But that may give you another 5+ players and you have a squad of 40 players suddenly costing perhaps £22m a year BUT they are hungry and if they stay 2-3 years they then go for good transfer fees and add on fees. Much more sustainable.
Will senior players come to QPR for a million a year? Bloody hell yes. There are a many Charlie Austins etc coming through at lower levels. Just need to invest proper money in scouting them and getting them here. [Post edited 9 May 2015 20:17]

clubs don't get the £130m immediately, it's worth that with tv and over 3-4 yrs....we should still get the "parachute "payments but have to learn our lesson...£33m spent on players and straight down, so who were the "right sort??
