Best place to stay for a good swill before and after?. Friends have suggested to stay in West London and get the tube over as the traffic is a nightmare over the east side

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

Happy new year to all

Plenty of transport to the vicinity. Pudding Mill Lane DLR gets you closest but Jubilee line will do as that's only a 10 minute walk. You're probably looking at 30/40 minutes travel time from the West.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

.....and the rest.

I went there everyday for five weeks a few years back and was staying in Marylebone and it took at least 45 from there. Double it if you're out West. Once you get off at Stratford it's a 15 min walk at least.

There's loads of hotels - Holiday Inn, Travelodge, etc pretty much on Olympic Park as a part of the whole Westfield development. May as well stay there if you wantt o stay close as there are a few places to eat and drink. If you're thinking of anywhere else close by you may as well be in Beirut.

Don't remember it taking that long the couple of times I've been there but won't disagree.

You're right about it being a bit desolate around there. Found that in a lot of the regenerated places in the East end. Stayed in the docklands for the Playoff final and there was one pub within about a mile of the hotel.

I have come across a few decent pubs near to Westfield shopping centre which look decent. Most hotels in the area are fully booked already except the docklands ones
