A game we should be targeting three points in.
They score plenty, but also concede plenty. If our defence is on top of its game we should have enough going forward to clinch it. Probably not going to be easy or all that entertaining, but a scraped 1-0 is definitely within our means. |

There is massive, massive bloat in the benefits bill. Bell's mates are talking out of their arses.
"Without damaging living standards" is the key line here. They believe that people on benefits should have the same quality of life as people working for a living. The absolute opposite of what should be happening.

The other issue that the league faces is that the cheating is in all likelihood still ongoing. Don't have the exact figures to hand but apparently they were one of the few clubs whose commercial income allegedly increased during Covid, which is well after the period currently in question.
A relegation to the Championship just isn't going to cut it. They have to be stripped of every trophy won in that period and be broken down as a club back to the position they were in prior to the takeover. If that means a relegation to non-league then so be it. Their owners also need to be forced to sell up as they're clearly not fit and proper individuals. |

Seems fairly obvious given the renewed emphasis on this Russian "interference" cobblers and the rushed attempts to overturn voter ID requirements that the stage is being set to bounce us back in via a dodgy referendum.
Seems that the same people who welcomed Barack Obama stating that an independent UK would be at the back of the queue for a trade deal in the event of Brexit, and spent millions sending pro-EU propaganda to every household now have a problem with Government intervention in a supposed demcratic vote. The problem for them is that they seem to have difficulty providing any actual evidence of it. |

Have long championed Widell as a more central option but yesterday is making me rethink that. He found a lot more space on the occasions that he drifted wider.
Franco did a lot of good work off the ball, but he was the weakest one of the three on it yesterday. Just wanted more time on the ball than he had, and not as strong holding it up as he seemed to think he was.
Of the three Fulton is probably the best in that DM role, but yeah, he's probably better playing more towards the halfway line than deep. Eustaquio has the #6 sewn up when fit. |

First rule is to be hard to beat. Southampton aside I think we've managed this well, and to be honest I think we were mostly our own worst enemies in that one.
Key for me will be the games against teams that try to shut up shop against us. Our struggles breaking down packed defences has already arguably cost us four points at home. |

It's not so much the all round game. Vipotnik is still better with his back to goal than Idah and is a more "natural" finisher IMO.
What Idah is better at, and what suits the way that the team is playing at the moment is mobility. He's faster than Vipi and a lot more able to run the channels, drifting wide if needed. Asking Vipotnik to do that takes away a lot of what made him so successful last season. He's good at dropping deep, but working the flanks is not his game and takes him away from where he needs to be.
Ideally we'd be able to shift styles depending on which one of them is on the pitch, and that might be the long term aim. [Post edited 11 Oct 16:41]

Is that I still don't think we've played to anything like 100% of our ability for more than a few relatively short spells here and there. The first 20 against Watford. Just after half time against Lincoln and yesterday.
For the most part (with the possible exception of Derby) we're grinding out wins rather than sealing them at a canter, which makes you wonder just how good we can potentially be if/when everything clicks.
The games we've won we've been the better side in, but I still think we've got levels in us that we've barely seen so far. |

In fairness a chunk of the empty seats were in the away end.
The last time we got promoted crowds didn't rise above about 15-16,000 until towards the end of the season. We're probably ahead of that as things stand. |

Getting him on a proper first team contract will also demonstrate to him that we're serious about his place in the side.
Probably won't make a vast amount of difference if someone comes knocking, but it can't hurt either. |

Wouldn't bet against Burnley rising up the table quite rapidly. They looked better than the result that they got down here and are currently 3-0 up at Watford. |

They're taking the wrong lessons from it.
You can succeed in L1 by playing passing football, but not the way Martin wants to play it, and certainly not by being as hopeless defensively as his teams always, ALWAYS are. |

Lot of Leicester fans seem to think that it would cost well over seven figures to sack him.
Has to be the end of his football league career. Can't see any ownership being mad enough to appoint him and risk the inevitable fan revolt that would follow.
He'll either have to accept non league (and even there a few clubs might steer clear) or go abroad. Or jack it in and become a TV "expert". |

I've seen some journalists describe the first half as "energetic" and I'd love some of whatever they are on.
First half we were lethargic as hell. Too slow moving the ball, too keen to take too many touches and too easily caught in possession. Franco must have been robbed half a dozen times throughout the game, although none of our midfield three played well in the first half. Fulton perhaps a shade lucky to only get a yellow for that challenge.
Much like against Lincoln we came out for the second half with a bit more fire in our bellies and made it count, all of which points to us being an even better side if we can work out how to do it in more than 15-20 minute patches. Widell seemed to drift wider more and find more space which suited him.
Sat disappointingly deeper as the game went on which better teams than Norwich will probably punish so that's a habit Matos needs to get us out of as well.
Still, three points is three points. We'll play better than that and fail to win in some games this season. |
