First one or second one? In the first the US encouraged certain groups to rise up against Saddam and then completely failed to back them so most got exterminated. In the second their biggest mistake was to disband the Iraqi army and various elite units in a rushed effort to "de Baathify" the country. All that achieved was to spread their own troops too thin to keep order and generate a large number of unemployed locals with military training and a grudge against the occupying forces. I remain unconvinced about using Stamenic as the deep lying midfield fulcrum too. He's good at a number of things, but he's just not quick enough on the ball, either passing it or running forward himself for me. It's related to the Galbraith situation and our midfield in general really. We've struggled to get the mix right. [Post edited 28 Feb 16:18]

Both goals have come down our right hand side. We lose more playing EG out of position and not where he can be effective than we risk by putting Key back in. |

Was hoping that the team starting the second half on Tue would start today. Stamenic has waltzed straight back into the team and I'm far from sure that pushing Galbraith back into his natural position wasn't a better option. |

We're going to have to manage Vipi's minutes until Idah is fit again so as little as I rate Cullen I can understand that call as necessary now and again. Yalcouye has earned a start. Likewise Nunes. Widell is becoming increasingly valuable to the starting XI. Still think Key has probably earned enough trust for us to put Galbraith into midfield. Perhaps my only quibble. |

You do have to wonder if the opportunity has been missed. Surely the best time to have done this was when the protests were at their height and before the Mullahs executed tens of thousands of people who might have contributed to a successful uprising? |

I just think we got the midfield mix wrong. Fulton and Franco are both very good at what they do, but neither of them are really the kind of player to drive things forward. That left us with a massive gap between the midfield and the forward three (four if you include Walta) so he kept dropping deep to try and get some possession, which meant for the most part he wasn't where he needed to be when we actually did get forward. I'd like to see him teamed up with Galbraith and Yalcouye. Second half we might have seen more from him. |

As OTT in its praise of Cullen as it is in it's criticism of Cabango and Burgess to be honest. It was a decent flick header, but World Class Moment? It was what Cullen is sometimes good at. Nicking a late goal. Shame about the rest of his game really. |

Like most players at this level Viggy has weaknesses that mean he's not likely to be top level. As good as most people thought DeVries was the last time we went up there were weaknesses in his game that made him someone we'd have probably upgraded on whether he'd stayed or not. LV is in a similar category for me. Good enough for us at the moment though. His attributes outweigh his weaknesses by some distance. |

That first half performance left us with too much to do. Yalcouye and Nunes need to be starting. Key at RB too. Galbraith is wasted and a borderline risk there. Not sure what we wanted Walta to do and he didn't appear to know either. Wasn't nearly advanced enough if he was supposed to be the AM. Much better second half though and just about deserved a draw overall. |

Yep. FWIW I don't think we'll get anything like that for front of shirt sponsorship, but even £2-3m would probably be a four fold increase on what we're getting now. Maybe more. |

Just for context, five or six million is probably more than we'll make this season for all our gate receipts combined. |

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of issues with Rupert Lowe. His approach has emboldened some nasty pieces of work (like Steve Laws) and they need to be slapped down. It is encouraging however to see a political leader unafraid to state an opinion. To not care about the usual smears from cowards and idiots that have been so successful in the last couple of decades. Their power is waning, and Ratcliffe giving into them will only slow that effect. |

What's the point of having "F*ck You!" money if you don't say "F*ck You?" You cannot apologise or take a backward step with these people. To do so is tantamount to an admission of guilt and he did nothing other than state an opinion, which is still, despite the efforts of some, not illegal in the UK. Rupert Lowe has been better at dealing with the howls of complaint so far. |
