Trump rubbishes Chagos deal
at 09:40 20 Jan 2026

He's losing his marbles.

He's right, there's nothing about the Chagos Deal that isn't idiotic, but to rant like this less than a year after his Government backed the deal just makes him look unhinged.

Bad enough that you've got the prats who arrive late for kickoff or feel the need to go for a burger five minutes before half time now without adding the ones who can't go 45 minutes at the football without a beer.

It'll end up like the Rugby where people are up and down every five minutes waiting for someone to pass with three beers that they're trying not to spill.

It is curious timing.

For all their success on the pitch though the city has never really embraced the Ospreys. You could drive past the stadium on almost any match day and you'd barely notice that there was a game on, so even if they were still there they'd have been a candidate for the chop.

Llanelli pull in the biggest crowds and have a stadium. Cardiff is never going to be without a team. I believe that Rodney Parade is also WRU owned so they're going to want a team there).

Ospreys were disposable.

Like I said, Ospreys were always the most likely to go.

I see they've been all over Twitter declaring what a good deal it is that we've secured for offshore energy when it's twice the price of gas when you take all the artificial costs out of it (carbon taxes etc).

Is it worth playing all that many through balls for him? He's not the quickest.

Depends what others are doing. There's not much need for him to go sprinting to close the keeper down if his options are already blocked off. All they can basically do then is boot it long.

Better for him to be free to react to any loose balls that might emerge from the press IMO.

Moves level with Adam Armstrong of Southampton at the top of the Championship scorers list with eleven league goals.

Interestingly (according to the BBC), he's done it having played two fewer games and with FORTY fewer shots on goal. Hard to avoid the assumption that if he'd been created more chances in the first half of the season he'd be comfortably leading the standings by now. He's having an excellent season.

In contrast, Richard Kone has just five goals overall. Big step up from League One for him, especially at the price QPR paid.

Oh, we should have finished "better".

It's a mystery why Matos and Co didn't think of that themselves.

Also worth pointing out that the team looks a lot better and more attacking/aggressive when our midfield doesn't comprise of three central midfielders all trying to do essentially the same job.

We always needed a presence pushing forward into the attacking third, something Sheehan forgot.

His work in the press is so, so good.

Don't think we've seen even a fraction of what he's capable of creatively. You get the impression that once the first goal goes in there may be a glut of them.

I've got some sympathy with him regarding the Vipi sub. He's obviously got one eye on Tuesday, a game we really should be winning and having ZV energised enough to do the full 90 there will be a big help.

The bit that gets me is that for about four or five years now it's been obvious that playing Cullen as the lone striker is far more of a hindrance than a help and yet we keep doing it.

Maybe we've not had enough time to work out an alternative strategy. I could buy that. I can't quite bring myself to believe that the Matos who seems to have spotted where we've been going wrong for the most part is unaware of this though.

Was right behind that. Hell of a save. Was arcing right into the top corner until the keeper got a touch.

Got to be disappointed not to win that given the chances we created. Don't agree that it was an "awful" second half, but it wasn't as good as the first, especially once we started making subs.

Fine header against the crossbar aside, Cullen simply can't play the lone striker role. He's not strong enough or good enough on the ball. It was noticeable how many passes into their half were sticking up there with ZV and coming straight back at us with Cullen. If Wales is off on loan then we will need an alternative to Vipi on loan.

Otherwise there was still stuff to be pleased about. There were four or five moves of really nice, one touch passing. Franco was outstanding first half. As was Eom. Fulton probably my MOTM just for sheer bravery sticking his head in where it hurt twice, and being perhaps the only 90 minute performance on the pitch for us.

"Thank Christ for the Bomb" and "Who Will Save the World?" are both cracking albums that regularly get play from me even though I wasn't born when either of them was released.

The TDF regularly does climbs of more than 2000 metres. There's nothing in Wales that will give them more than a basic workout. Snowdon itself is less than 1,100 metres.
