Hard to believe this was desirable just 3 weeks ago.

36 points would now mean only 12 in our final 13 fixtures.

Based on current form, we should be aiming for 40-50 points. Chelsea aside, it's achievable if we keep up the same level of intensity and quality for the remainder of the season.

Last year we took 10 points from the remaining fixtures (but that's not counting the newly promoted teams - home to Burnley and Middlesbrough, and away to Hull who are becoming our new bogy team).

But yes, I'd still take 36 points because I can no longer see Sunderland and Palace getting that many, given their remaining fixtures.

I'm getting hawkish now. I see no reason at all why we can't almost expect to win four more home games from Burnley, Leics, WBA, Boro, Stoke and Evo. Plus one from Hull, Watford and Sundo away which gives us 36, then another win or couple of draws and it's job done. I know you can easily be brought crashing down to earth, but very much in our own hands now. On new years day I thought we were trussed, basted, roasted, munched, digested and ready for the U bend.

Even more so now. If we don't get 38, we'll have short changed ourselves.

Only thing that cools my wellies is that the type of injury that stuffed Nath could happen to others. We've been very lucky for a few years on that front.

Middlesborough have a tough run in, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are opponents in four of their last six games.
Palace have Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in their last 4 of their last 7 games.
While we have only got Chelsea, Spurs and Man U as the only top of the table teams to play, so that is 10 clubs from middle to bottom can't believe we will not get at least 12 points from the run in. Looking forward to next season when PC has his team playing his way, top 1/2 of the table no problem.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Boro don't score many but they don't concede too many either so if it came down to us and boro they would be a point better off due to our inferior goal diff,sunderland are a bit manic to say the least,,,,,palace still have it in them imo to pull a few rabbits out,hull doing and playing well but cant see them lasting the distance,bournemouth?nice playing team but suffering atm with hopefully wilshere out for a few weeks and ruud gullits son gone back to chelski.think theyr feeling vulnerable now,especially with the swans pecking over theyr shoulders,we could still drag burnley into it with a win at home,also Watford are not entirely clear yet..my guess would be sunderland hull and a battle between Bournemouth and boro

this is the current table at this point last year.. gives a good indication - we were only 3 point better off! Newcastle went down with same games and points as we are now though . Bournemouth were 1 point ahed - tonight 2 points ahead!!

^^^This^^^ IMHO Chelski and Yernited away plus Spuds at home aside, I feel on current form under The Undertaker we can take something from all our remaining matches. So if we carry on with his 2 points per game average we should be looking at adding another 20 points to our tally come the end of the season...giving us a finishing total of 44. I NEVER thought I'd be saying this after Bournemouth had turned us over on NYE under Brad Bobbley!
