Huw jenkins: Do Swans fans have him ALL wrong? on 13:51 - Feb 5 with 1933 views | perchrockjack | The past is just a goodbye Right now, we have 30 m on loan in Spain in players brought in then almost immediately sidelined Throw in the has been of Wilf and you have 42m . Now I'm not sure I d be happy with throwing away 42m What he did in the past is as of nothing as its where we are now that counts . We ve no reason to be in this situation at all

Huw jenkins: Do Swans fans have him ALL wrong? on 13:03 - Feb 5 by Shaky | Well let's hear your arguments that "absence could cause a collapse of our football club", and subject them to rational scrutiny. As is stands, the my secret source who can not be challenged line doesn't cut it. Nor does the Jenkins has supernatural powers of managment, obviously. |
If you only frequent these message boards when you've got nothing better to do that's your problem. I'm not repeating myself for you.

Well that's a choice we'd have to make as opposed to not having to make now. Take your time with this answer.....

Huw jenkins: Do Swans fans have him ALL wrong? on 13:07 - Feb 5 by Private_Partz | What a complete and utter waste of time. Up to ML he was very good at appointing managers. Since then it has been a revolving door with payouts at every turn. He has always been poor at sourcing players. Very, Very hit and miss. His window at the start of this season has proven to be one of his worst. It remains to be seen whether this one will be just as bad. Thank God Everton blew stupid amounts on Siggy or we would be in a bigger financial mess than we are now. If Carlos gets us out of this sh!te it will because of him and his ability to mould a weak, imbalanced and paper thin squad. Yes Jenkins appointed him but, let's face it, the cupboard was bare. Few top managers available and few wanted to come here anyway due to the mess the club is in. Carlos will go the same way if he can't hack it with the minimal support he is getting. One good thing about our predicament is it won't cost as, if he goes, his short term contract will be up anyway so no pay off. I have not even touched upon the underhand skullduggery of the sale either. I have just concentrated on his performance. It is quite incredible that now we have strung a few results together they are coming out of the woodwork saying 'he may not be so bad after all'. Sure we owe him, and many others, a debt of gratitude for helping to get us to where we are now. That however does no excuse, ineptitude, incompetence and downright slyness. |
Bad at appointing managers. If Carlos gets us out of this..... Seriously. Is this the level of debate I'm up against??

Are you? Like really? You better jump back onto wiki as you'll find there they appointed Bob Bradley as manger. Fack me, when you've been made out to be incorrect you don't half talk some extended Shite.

Do you know what I think that article is from? When Guidolin's agent first contacted the Club, a good 6 weeks before he was given the job, they probably met and said they'd chase a few contacts. It was Guidolin's signing though, no arguments at all.

Huw jenkins: Do Swans fans have him ALL wrong? on 11:30 - Feb 5 by Shaky | tl;dr Let's instead examine the purported magician's marquee signings over the past few financial periods: FY 14/15: Gomis FI 15/16: Paloschi 16/17: Baston, Mesa 17/18: Clucas, Bony MK II Any questions? |
Gomis should not be in that list, he was not prolific but in 2014/15 he contributed 7 goals to our cause and with Ayew's 12 goals and his 6 goals in 2015/16 helped to keep us up. Similarly it is much too early to put Clucas in that group as well, as he has already delivered 3 very important goals towards our survival this season, it was not his fault PC played him in all the wrong positions. The rest of that group contributed very little indeed.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but not for the reason yuu mention. Gomis is the odd one out, since he was a free transfer. But he cost a packet in wages and the fees and signing bonus were without doubt significant. I also agree with you about Clucas, but if you look back at my post I was just highlighting the significant big money signings, and made no perjorative comments about the quality of the actual names. It is posters looking at that ist who are spontaneously nit-picking because the knee jerk reaction is that it is overall shit. [Post edited 5 Feb 2018 17:59]

Gomis was a marquee signing, thats one you got right. Cost of transfer is not a factor.

Cost of transfer - which is the key determinant of value for money - is not a factor in assessing the performance of the DoF and CEO? We're heading further and further into the twilight zone here.

Nice strawman there Shakes. Making up what someone says is not a good basis for a debate. Cost of transfer fee is not a determining factor in what is or is not a marquee signing, which seems is what your list was about, unless you have since changed your initial point? If we are talking about any old signings (as Paloschi was) then we need to take all signings into account and then compare them directly to competitors. Compiling a select list comprised of what you deem a marquee signing is as much use as ignoring PM's and instead choosing to contine to be an annoyance to everyone on the forum. Tell you what is like twilight zone though, im talking to myself on the other thread, had a good old chin wag. Spooky. [Post edited 5 Feb 2018 19:15]

WTF do you think we are discussing in this thread? You want this thread to be dedicated to the definition of a marquee signing. De de de de de, de de de de de, etc. Come back when you understand somethig about financial and balance sheet risk. And the difference between hiring talant (ie players or managers in sports teams) and professional management.

We are discussing how affective his marquee signings have been. As I said, unless you have changed it, which won't surprise me in the slightest. No amount of da da deeing is going to rescue that for you Shakes. We are either discussing all of his signings or we are discussing just the ones you hand pick as marquee ones, in which case you need to have a better grasp of what constitutes that - which one is it to be?
