has it been that mental?

We were crap last season so was a big change not to be expected?

I know the 4th keeper thing is a bit weird but we've done the following so far

Sold Ingram replaced with Kelly
Released Bidwell replaced with Wallace
Released Lynch & Baptsite and replaced by Barbet and Masterson
Sold Furlong with Rangel brought back in
Released Cousins and brought in Ball, Smith & Amos

Also sold Freeman and released Pawel, Wells, Cameron and Hemed who have yet to be replaced

When you take a step back is it really that mental?

For me,
Kelly an improvement on Lumley although this is solely judged on highlights and fan reviews

Bidwell better than Wallace who is already injured

Hard to judge the Barbet and Masterson for Lynch and Baptiste but seems an improvement. However with leisner possibly moving it could hurt us

Furlong was improving year and year and got what QPR was about, Rangel will play max 20 games this season and simply doesn't have the legs any more. We may get a loan in but again short term fix

Smith, Amos and Ball all should be good players for us but there will be no development there for us to enjoy as we are simply helping improve other teams players. Cousins was ours and was someone who could play in numerous positions and we failed to get the best out of (I think he will shine at Stoke) Add to that Luongo leaving I feel we are worse off

The striker situation is absolutely ridiculous no matter what way you look at it, we should have a striker in now who can get to know players in pre season. That will bite us hard.

We are looking to spend what we have on an injury prone midfielder who will have no sell on value to replace Freeman who made us tick

Poll: Of the 3 linked away, who do you think will still be a QPR player come February?

By the same token...

Selling Smith without a single senior forward to replace him, so that at a bare minimum we end up doing a whole pre-season without any recognised strikers. (That is assuming we manage to get bodies in before the season proper starts.)
Sending Smyth out on loan to League One at a time we're meant to be developing players to sell on to teams above us.
Leaving Chair on the margins at a time when we're meant to be developing players to sell on to teams above us.
Recruitment built around a) loanees from big clubs with no first team experience and no resale value and b) players who'll never see 30 again with worrying injury records and, again, no resale value.
Establishing a style of play centred on marauding full backs, roles to be performed by Rangel, 36, and Lee Wallace, 32.
Transfer activity seemingly planned around Luongo being sold for X million without it actually having happened.
And yes, 19 goalkeepers.

A chunk of that is forced on us by FFP, I know that. But some of it does seem a little... eccentric.

I think it's only fair to wait until the end of the window to judge how we've done.
We only have 2 loan players at the moment and loads will happen in next 2 weeks.

It may well up a disaster but it just seems whatever they do at the moment is getting slaughtered.

1. We had an offer for Smith which may not have been there had we waited.

2. Loaning Smyth is part of his development and his value will rise if he does well even in League 1.

3. Maybe Chair isn’t ready? Championship is a whole different ball game to League 2.

4. As DaveB says we should probably wait and see how the window/season unfolds before criticising too hard.

5. See 4.

6. See 4.
