I'm really optimistic about this season with the change of Manager, Chairman and Sporting Directors all coming in. It feels like a fresh approach which I'm really quite excited about like when we had Martinez, Rogers and Laudrup taking the reigns
Time will tell if they can walk the walk but I've certainly been pleased with what I've heard so far and how they've conducting themselves in the RM to Southampton debacle.
So what expectations/targets do you have for this season? Mine are detailed below in terms of how I think we should be setting the bar. Of course a lot can happen in a football season (injuries/sales etc) but from where I think the club may be going I would set out 2023/2024 expectations as follows :-
Automatic Promotion = Exceptional (A*)
Promotion via Playoffs = Outstanding (A)
Playoffs (not promoted) = Good (B)
Top Mid Table (7th-11th) = Adequate (C)
Bottom Mid Table (12th-16th) = Disappointing (D)
Avoid Relegation = Not good enough (E)
Relegated = Dismissed (F)

Some here although it's great to be positive it has to be tempteured by not knowing who's staying and going.Keep what we have with a few tweaks out wide then we should have a good if not great season | |

Personally I think B or C is realistic
A or B would be fantastic
Anything less would be disappointing.
However with all the changes, it is perhaps reasonable to expect this to be a transitional season.
With a push for promotion next season.

He’s not the only cog in the machine. A big one admittedly but a lot will depend on who we lose and who we replace them with and how long it takes them to adapt.

Depends who comes in, depends who leaves.
The last ten games of last season proved beyond a sensible doubt that despite all the yapping about the January transfer window we were already there or thereabouts in terms of a playoff challenging squad.
We are however likely to lose Piroe, which will be a major blow. How we replace him will be key for me. Wouldn't even necessarily need to be a permanent acquisition. A Prem loanee along the lines of Ellis Simms will do. |  |

Agreed its all about who goes and who comes in. We have already lost two of our regular starting 11 one arguably one of our best performers. To compare the squad of the late run and now is a bit unfair.
IMO we are now set up better to bring in the right players that we will use "tweaking the style" could also mean we need a different type of player.

Ryan Manning had many attributes, but pace and a consistent final ball weren't amongst them. It would have been interesting to see if he could have adapted to Duff's style.
All the noises coming out of the club suggest that the player acqusition process has been significantly streamlined. Certainly the additional investment won't have been on the grounds that previous majority ownership still held a significant role. | |
