| EFL/FA Cup cheatfest 21:18 - Oct 29 with 1335 views | stainrods_elbow | Just watching desultorily a 2nd/3rd string Liverpool losing to Palace in front of what looks like pretty much an inexplicable full house. Pointless and shameful doesn't begin to cover it. In case anyone stll needs clarity, the EFL Competition Rule 6.5 states categorically: 'Each Club shall play its full available strength in and during all Competition Matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given.' https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/gc-media-assets.gc.eflservices.co.uk/2aea21f0 In the FA Cup, the wording is similar (Rule 113): 'A Club competing in a Competition Match must field a full strength team.' A few quick queries: 1. Why do the football authorities allow their own competitive rules to be flagrantly and repeatedly rubbished? 2. Why do so few, if any, journalists have the integrity, guts, or righteous anger to flag this up on behalf of fans again and again until their ink runs dry? 3. Why are the fans themselves such supine mugs as to keep paying for being cheated and colluding wth the cynicism of the clubs and authorities? As a possibly salient fact for those of us with souls, QPR's only cup trophy, the League Cup, was won in 1967. Good luck to those of them (Messrs Springett, Sanderson, Langley, Keen, Sibley, and Lazarus) now spinning in their graves! [Post edited 29 Oct 21:24]

| EFL/FA Cup cheatfest on 10:10 - Oct 30 with 853 views | Marshy67 | To quote Abba circa 1976 it's all about Money Money Money. The Premier League and the Champions League are where the big bucks are. The "League Cup" forget it. Arne no doubt had one eye on the Villa game and one eye on next weeks clash with Real Madrid. The sponsors of the "League Cup" must be relieved that the other Premier League big guns (not Spurs) all made it through to the last 8. The neutral fan might like to see two of Brentford,Fulham,Cardiff in the final but not the sponsors. To think when we won this competition back in 1967 because we were in the -then-3rd division we were not allowed into the Inter Cities Fairs Cup (Swindon suffered the same fate in 1969.) As for the fans, teams such as Liverpool and Man U would get full houses even if they were competing in the National League. | | | |
