I'd be curious to know more about the process of re-acquiring Cat 1 status. Obviously the facilities are already in place, but I'd imagine that there are certain certifications and assurances that take time to sign off, even if we're just putting back into place what existed before.

The minimum £2.5M per year investment has to be put into context. Our whole matchday turnover for the year ending June 24 was just over £4M up on the previous year of £3.5M, it is not sustainable without the ownership paying for the academy out of their own pockets. I wonder if Ryan Maye has been brought in to oversee the implementation of Cat1 from the coaching perspective, we do seem to have a lot of coaching staff now. Somewhere at the back of my mind is that you have to be implementing Cat1 methodology for two whole seasons, plus provide documented evidence to support this on top of inspections. It is not a quick process.

For sure. That was the reason we knocked it on the head in the first place. It was an expense that arguably couldn't be justified given the ongoing cash flow problems that the club was facing at the time.

Now things have settled down and we appear to be in the same, long term subsidy pile as basically every other club at this level, if they're prepared to cover the cost at least in the short term with an eye on it ultimately becoming self funding then it's a no brainer.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The club needs much more "football experience" on and off the pitch.

Even if the owners get it "right" today - it will take 2-3 seasons before we are challenging at the top.

Lets not forget all the challenges over the last 8 years - there has never been any stability and each bad transfer window has set us back much more than many think.

The owners have enough money to buy the stadium ten times over and some, they nor the club need to raise any money to buy the stadium. Because it is outside PSR both the stadium and the academy can have as much money spent on it as the owners like without repercussions. There is no delay in any prospective purchase it is just following the normal purchase negotiations that takes time when you buy anything from local council. I don't know how long negotiations have been going on, but from personal experience it can easily take a year or more.

Not quite. It's Swansea City Football Club who are buying the stadium, not the owners of the club. So, it's the club that need to raise the money. This can be through a capital injection by the owners or through borrowing.

Any purchase of the stadium is not PSR related so the owners can put the purchase costs into the club with no comeback. The value of the club would increase by the stadium value at least so there is no loss. That is how the club raise the money with no comeback or breach of PSR. The club does not need to borrow money the interest alone would be more than the lease and not sensible.

Should shut a few up. All this Matos was a last minute appointment after Hellberg. Fact is he was approached before Hellberg according to a contact in Portugal. And I suppose if anyone has the nuts, ask Gorringe.

Let’s remember who brought Matos in and who identified him.

Risca summed it up on Phils site, I totally agree, a good bloke he is too.

About time this was said. The amount of BS merchants hovering around ready to do him and Gorringe’s ill are not Swansea City supporters, they are anonymous cowards. Jealous morons who are so pathetic they hide behind made up names , one who bangs his gums on Phils site was a big part of the reason SCFC2 forum folded, but that’s for later on. He’s too thick to see it. So we will be reminding him and his rat brigade when it’s the most inconvenient time for him. About time fans really spoke up about how they feel. Spot on RISC.

⬇️

Recruitment hasn't been a weakness this summer, so the need to continually bang the "analyst" drum because people didn't like his debating methods on a forum a while back is becoming tiresome.

We were at the bare bones in the summer, our captain had jumped ship, i think we had one senior CB here, contracts had been let to run down.

We've signed:

Melker Widell - Good player now starting regularly
Ethan Galbraith - One of the best in league imo.
Marko Stamenic - Quality #6
Ishe Samuels Smith - Good immediate cover, what he's been brought in for.
Kaelan Casey - Good immediate cover, what he's been brought in for.

Manuel Benson (loan) - not worked out ❌
Malick Yalcouye (loan) - good player clearly, had his moments but not done enough, shame as i thought he was a banker ❌

Adam Idah - can’t say he’s worked out or not as Vipi has been on fire and he's played a bit part. Decent goals to minutes though.

Zeidane Inoussa - looks our most dangerous winger but still adapting to the league.

Farman - 3rd choice GK, what he's here for.
Santos - 4th choice CB, what he's here for.
Wales - signed for the future

How long has it been since we've had some actual assetts, now we have, in one summer, it's not perfect but it's a start of fixing years of neglect.

The sheehan saga was a mistake, which was funnily enough made under Montague's watch who everyone said was the saviour, we've replaced with a Swans type appt in Matos, where early signs are promising.

At the moment, I think people, especially on the forums unfortunately, are dreading a nightmare scenario of us being successful under people they have personal issues with over an internet forum, quite sad.

Rant over.

Merry Xmas.
