Tonda Eckert Stats 10:22 - Feb 3 with 355 viewsSaintNick

Tonda Eckert has managed Saints in 17 Championship games, he has 28 points with 8 Wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats, thats 1.65 points per game, if you average that over a season then its 75 points and in most seasons that is good enough to make the play offs.

Given the underlying issues that Eckert has inherited, including a squad battered by 4 managers in the previous 12 months and relegation, cliques within the dressing room etc, I dont think he has done a bad job so far

If he keeps up that average then we will fall just short of the play offs, however if we can up it to just over 2 points a game then we can have a chance of the play offs.

So in the last 16 games we need essentially 9-10 wins and a draw or two with perhaps 3-4 defeats max.

This is of course not an exact science

As long as he sticks to the back 4 and keeps fellows on the wing I think we could just scrape play offs. Really only 2 spots available as Hull and Ipswich plus the top 2 look too far ahead.

Yes, pity he wasn't manager from the beginning of the season, but he was an unknown quantity then.

The lack of a fit goalscoring centre forward is still going to be difficult to overcome.

The abrupt loss in form shortly after he was appointed, suggested that the early wins might have been a flash in the pan.

But he's done well again in the last few games and that to me demonstrates a bit of steel.

Others before him have simply been unable to turn the ship out of a run of bad results. He's now done that twice as far as I'm concerned. And this represents a massive improvement.
