Part of the reason we struggled last season before Christmas, in my view, was the number of changes we made to the team, in that case because of new signings, in this because of injuries, and the lack of time on the training pitch to bed those changes in. After Christmas seemed a lot less hectic, and we were also lucky enough to be injury free pretty much for most of the second half of the season.

Losing two left backs and two of our defensive midfielders for a large part of the season has been really difficult. Added to that the loss of Dykes post international breaks and the lack of rest for both him and Chair.

I know other teams have injury issues too but with a smallish squad, and the quality disproportionately placed in the first choice players, we seem more seriously affected than some teams by injury or unavailability. Seeing Wallace in the U23 squad also made me realise how we've missed his organisational ability and his encouragement of the young players on the pitch.

Gray is a bit of a conundrum. He provides desperately needed pace but at the same time, contributes so little outside of the penalty area in terms of link up play and pressing that it's hard to justify his berth on our occasionally leaky boat.

Seny has been a bit of a mystery this season too. While he has made some great saves that have kept us in matches, he hasn't been quite the consistently excellent keeper of last season, the bollock dropped at West Brom and the flappy punch for Blackpool's disallowed goal being clear examples. I hope the travelling around for the ACON while not actually getting a game doesn't contribute further to this malaise. He's still by far and away the best keeper we've had since Smithies but not in the same place as a year ago.

December will be an interesting test of where we really are. A bit of time on the training pitch following the international break; the returns of Wallace and Field; hopefully they'll provide that big of quality that we've been lacking at times.

Finally, and it's been said before, f*ck off Sky for a bit. Having our games chopped and changed is sh*t for the fans and sh*t for the players and the manager, having to keep changing the rest periods and training schedules. And when they hardly ever talk about us in positive terms, what's the frigging point?

Ha, good point about Sky, usually they obsess about one team because they fawn over them, of course in our case it seems all the co-commentators have it in for us.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?
