We'll need to go 4-5-1 against Wrexham so we don't get over run. Absolutely can't let Field go. We probably will knowing us. I'd have field and Hayden to hold the midfield and Madsen a bit further forward.

I understand your reasoning there. What do you think we could do to make sure we don't get overrun down the middle?
JS can't change the midfield as he doesn't have the players (been saying for 18 months the CM needs fixing). The coaches solution, and for me the only one, is to bypass the midfield by hitting it long. Kone as the target, Burrell pace. It's been working until Burrell got injured, but we have Obikwu now. It will work a lot better Saturday.
Something needs to change for sure - these last two away games have been unacceptable. I would like to see Sam Field reintegrated for Hayden with licence to get forward. Not a revolution, I realise, but it's something.
The trouble is very few players are earning their starts right now. Perhaps Obiku will literally hit the ground running . . .

I know he's 6'4",but that's a tall ask to expect a bloke with a handful of games off Lincoln City's bench, to walk into QPR's set up and fill the Buzz-void.
Personally, I think we need to see a huge uptick in our ability to hold the ball up in the final third and thereafter, do something with it. Currently the back five and midfield two are doing a good job and keeping us in it.

I think part of the answer is Ronnie. Not sure how whether at CD paired with JD or defensive mid with Madsen but I think he’s going to improve our passing and mobility out of our own third.

Agreed, Nix.
Also, as you posted (yesterday?) even though he's not lightning-quick he's quicker than Cook, so if he plays at centre-back we can finally move the defensive line up the field, which will allow us to move the mids up and the attack up, and we would hopefully create so much more then.
Cook is excellent in a low block but if we're going to progress as a team, imho we have to pick pace at the back.

Yes that’s my theory. Largely based on the difference it made when JCS was able to play for us for a few matches. It definitely seemed to me that we were less hemmed into in and around our box. I also think it was similar with RE last season. Other teams press us because we struggle with Cook and Jimmy to get past the first press and because our DMs have to drop back further because of the CDs lack of pace.
Will be interesting to see whether this comes to pass!
